Visited this place after a friend's recommendation. Immediately loved the funky retro Chinese turning. Definitely a fun place to hangout. As for the food, you're probably not going to seek out the Chinese dishes here specifically when you're on the doorstep of Chinatown. However, the dishes were quite tastey as bar food snacks go and excellent accompaniment to the atmosphere. I only drank Tsing Tao as the beer list i... View all feedback.

I had a great time in your bar, I was served by Hugo and company, until I was abused by the security guard Stuart Donald Matheson #4088774432 upon my departure, based on this single interaction I will not be returning. View all feedback.
We decided to order share dishes including vegetarian dumplings, BBQ pork buns, prawn dumplings, edamame, and pumpkin arancini (an unexpected menu item for a Chinese restaurant, but definitely worth trying!). The food was fantastic - everything tasted fresh and delicious. Even though the restaurant was already full by the time we arrived (around 6:15 pm on a Monday), we managed to snag seats at the bar. The ambience at Uncle Ming's was amazing, with a basement Chinese den vibe. Sitting at the bar, enjoying our meal and sipping on a cocktail, was the perfect way to kick off the week. I will definitely be returning to Uncle Ming's in the future!
I have never been let down by the dumplings, tempura prawns, or other delicious finger foods at this restaurant. The lighting may take some getting used to, but the staff is friendly and helpful. If you're in a rush, it can be difficult to get their attention, so it's easier to go up to the bar. The good news is that there are usually plenty of tables available, so you can often get a seat even without a reservation. However, it's always a good idea to book in advance. This place has become one of my go-to spots.
Love this place but find it weird when it’s half empty inside with queues outside. I suspect that Owen the floor manager likes to keep the inside manageable so he can share shots with his Cronies.
Had a late dinner with some friends. The dumplings were fine but nothing amazing. A special shout out to Owen, a particularly petty and unpleasant staff member who made the night memorable for the wrong reasons.
As one of the original small bars, Mings has been in business for many years. Even with the recent challenges posed by COVID 19 the place remains an excellent option for a bit to eat or some drinks, having successfully retained many of their original staff. The theme is an opium den, so lots of character. The staff are one of the best teams around friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The whisky menu has an excellent selection, specialising in Japanese. The food (speciality is dumplings) is also worth a try. And attention to detail on COVID 19 safety is second to none diligently checking sign ins, and timely wiping down of tables between patrons. The last few months they've had a great line up of live music. Note it's a very popular place, so I highly recommended booking. Given we've had several capacity restrictions due to COVID 19, it's very understandable that at busy times they have a time limit on the tables.
