The Subterranean Bar and Grill - Sydney

Service was quick staff unfriendly and one was very sharp and too matter of fact food was quick to arrive and tasty, seems to be a popular place very busy, and so where most fo the restaurants in the basement.

It was early so not too full. Not an issue as service was fast. Lamb souvlaki was to die for. The pork belly was cooked so well. It was also a big serving. Although a bit out of the way it is in my list for next time

Went there with a couple of friends optimistic and found the place to have great food, good price and excellent service from our waitress Steph... Highly recommended

After choosing The Subterranean on TripAdvisor, we reserved for lunch on a quiet Tuesday. Their reservations are at :15 and :45 (not at :30 or on the hour . Ours was 12:15. The menu is Greek with an emphasis on grilled meat and seafood. We shared 2 entrees between 3 persons Octopus Meze (Chargrilled with Cherry Tomato which was very tender and Spinach Filo Spanakopita which was very tasty with its special herbs. For mains, it was Chargrilled Souvlaki with Pita Bread, Tzatziki and Seasoned Chips or Grilled Lamb Loin with Salad, Pita Bread and Tzatziki they were melt in the mouth meals. We finished with Greek Coffee (of course! . The prices were modest Mezes $18, Mains $22.50, Wine $44.00. See photos. The atmosphere was suitably subterranean but surprisingly, the acoustics were excellent. The waiting staff was efficient but could get distracted, so don't be shy to wave at them. Subterranean where were you hiding? Now we've found you, we'll be back!
