Walking down a set of stairs into this dimly lit, brasserie like restaurant is like finding a treasure in a cave. The space is open, moodily lit and inviting. There are booths for friends or intimate dates as well as large groups of friends enjoying a good French meal and good wines. Menu is extensive with all the French classic dishes. Started with a classic parfait which was sweet, creamy & rich, perfect balance for a lighter, refreshing salad starter. Steak frite is a good test of a French bistro and the steak was cooked well as requested with a side of golden chips. The mushroom sauce though was very watery and uninviting. The Beef bourgignon pie was rich & delicious, a perfect winter dish. You can really taste the wine and the beef was tender and love the hint of mushrooms. The top of the pie was golden and flakey and loved the creamy mashed potatoes on the side. Although we were so full but we had to try the chocolate peanut butter dessert which was a nice sweet chocolate dessert to finish on. Have a few glasses of good French wine and your almost back in Paris.
