Le Petit Flot is tucked away upstairs in the Tank Stream Hotel in the city. The design and decor is very good. Service was polite and friendly. A varied menu with something their for most tastes. The wine list is quite good and is a good match for the menu. Being lunch time, we didn't wish to order big meals or go for 3 courses so ordered one main of the duck and a crispy pork roll to share with a glass of red each.... View all feedback.
What James S doesn't like about Le Petit Flot:
Food was simply not good. Nothing cooked fresh. Entrees entirely premade and meat course mains all over done when reheated. Wine reasonably priced within reason only positive to say. View all feedback.
A beautiful space, great concept and incredible food! Tartare and capellini pasta were my faves and i'll 100% be returning. Its BYOB but the wine selection there is great
Dinner here a few days ago with my partner and we both thought the food was excellent. Very very nice, we could not fault any of it... that said, we aren't pompous bearded skivvy wearing bike riding basket weaving self confessed "masterchefs" who go out to eat solely for the purpose of reassuring ourselves that we could have cooked far better on our solar stove in our fully self sustained zero carbon footprint semi in Newtown. We just like to enjoy a nice meal in a nice restaurant with some degree of service from the wait staff. We got that here.... and some great food and wine. We will come back here and we would definitely recommend it to you.
What are they trying to achieve here? Found the place on Groupon, no ambience, no music and the lighting is terrible. Backed up by a manager who is a cross between Basil Fawlty and Manuel (figure it out for yourself). They make you tick boxes for the food you want, I felt like I was entering into the local meat raffle at an RSL! It's a shame because the food is quite good but the way it is presented is atrocious! A couple of nice staff members though.
Great place for celebrations, the venue is spacious and elegant and waitstaff are attentive. We had a selection of entrees. We had the carpaccio, which was fresh with just a hint of lemony zest. The wagyu beef tartare was reasonably authentic except perhaps the egg white on it? It should really just be an egg yolk. I really liked the sweet prawns and truffle angel hair pasta. Just a tinge of fresh sweetness from the prawns, al dente pasta and a touch of truffle which was not too overpowering. For mains, I had a perfectly seared barramundi, crispy on the skin, perfectly seasoned and soft flaky flesh. Possibly one of the best seared fish I have had. Finally, we ended with a selection of dessert. I enjoyed the chocolate fondant but it didn't quite ooze down the center as much, although taste and texture was on point. Also had the french earl grey tea bavarois. Didn't quite taste the earl grey in this dish which rendered it a bit pointless. Creme brulee was perfectly done. There is some polishing in the dishes but I would return. I think the food is quite good, reasonable price point, great wine and a very elegant atmosphere for quiet dinners.
