What Candice Kilback doesn't like about Jones the Grocer - Westfield Sydney:
Never been as angry with a place, $17.00 for a terrible roll with processed "chicken" a scrap of bacon and not much else, angry with myself for even paying for it, also no sign showing the price only one showing $10.00 for the baguettes which looked a lot better and more reasonably priced, someone needs to review this outrageous pricing or put some actual chicken in it. Never will go back. So much competition on the... View all feedback.
I think my waiter had given up the will to live. He forgot to put our order in and seemed absolutely nonplussed when we asked him about this. The other staff stepped in and saved the day and they where nice. Despite this, the restaurant seemed confused and chaotic. Lots of people working but not helping. The restaurant was dark and I did not like the vibe. I would give this place a miss and go to another location of Jones.
Our first Westfield restaurant dining experience at Jones the Grocer was a very pleasant surprise.Chicken in butter with seasonal vegetables and a tempura flower were all delicate and very nicely cooked. Gnocci marinara - a generous serve of soft gnocci and plenty of prawns in a good sauce. Cutlery clean but a bit small in the hand. Large paper napkins - clean plates. Side of lovely hot toasted bread with two oils - herbed and balsamic. Two carefully-muddled and well-presented summery cocktails and two mellow red wines in nice glass. Water provided - clean glasswear. Cracked pepper offered. Selection of four desserts - well presented on slate platter - beautiful creams - good value - a decadent overload of sweet pleasures. Comfortable seating in softly lit restaurant. A very enjoyable dining experience on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was one-quarter full - attentive friendly service. Well-satisfied with dining experience.
We were lucky enough to find this gem when we visited Sydney. I had the breakfast risotto, which was amazing. My daughter also had the risotto and asked to have salmon instead of the ham, the chef made it with the salmon and my daughter loved it. The hash browns are super crunchy and amazing. The wait staff were excellent. I would definitely recommend a breakfast at Jones the grocer!
Always love the antipasto in this restaurant. We also tried seafood gnocchi and crab fettuccine, its an average, but definitely they use good ingredients.
