Chipotle - Swampscott
Chipotle
Description
Chipotle remains a popular choice for burrito lovers, but experiences vary significantly by location. While some patrons rave about the flavorful options, including the notable vegan chorizo and fresh guacamole, others express disappointment over subpar food quality and inattentive service. Complaints include loose burrito wraps, limited salsa variety, and inconsistent staff friendliness. Efforts towards cleanliness are noted, but frequent staff turnover and extra charges for customization can dampen the experience. Despite these inconsistencies, many still find value in the menu offerings, making Chipotle a continual go-to for hearty Mexican fare.

The sofritas were tasty, offering all the usual options. A great choice for quick dining!
The food was outstanding—absolutely top-notch. I tried the new vegan chorizo, and it was delicious, much leaner compared to the sofrito, which always appears to be swimming in oil. The guacamole was fantastic as always. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. I noticed the staff mostly standing around in the back. A few teenagers even mentioned they had only been helping for about 10 minutes. I'm aware that everyone works hard, but so do I—I work from home. As Bill Belichick would say, just do your job.
We visit the Swampscott location fairly often, and as some reviews have pointed out, a few of the younger staff members could improve their customer service skills. However, last night (11/1/16 around 6 PM), the staff was fantastic. A couple of unhappy customers shouldn't reflect poorly on the entire team. The restaurant is always very clean, and we've never had any issues with the food. Great job!
I'll always remember my first barbacoa burrito; it marked the start of my love for Chipotle. Fortunately, I didn't try it at this location, or I might not have returned for another. The salsa tasted old and was definitely not fresh. My burrito was wrapped so loosely that it fell apart easily. The quality of the food at this location is subpar, and I won't be coming back.
The burrito itself was overstuffed, which sounds good in theory, but it ended up falling apart and I had to finish it with a fork and knife. The service could have been a bit friendlier. Don’t get me wrong, the staff wasn’t rude—they just seemed a bit distant. I did appreciate that when I asked for chips and salsa, they happily provided me with all three salsa options. However, I wish there were more salsa choices, as mild, medium, and hot don’t feel sufficient (and the hot wasn’t very spicy at all). It would have been nice to see options like jalapeños or other vegetables, as well as a choice between white and wheat tortillas. Overall, Chipotle is still a good option, just perhaps not this particular location. If you’re looking for more variety, I recommend checking out Qdoba.
