Great atmosphere, warm and cosy. Awesome playlist in the background with the drinks and staff being the standout. We ended up staying for dinner. Good tasty food pub quality.

We were booked into the restaurant at the hotel polfareren, but it was closed for the weekend due to staff sickness, so the hotel booked us into the Svalbar. When we arrived for our reservation the greeter walked around the restaurant, then came back and said he couldn't find our reservation. No worries, they had empty tables so he seated us. We ordered a bottle of wine, the cheese board and the charcuterie plate as appetizers, and then I ordered the whale steak and my husband chose the cod stew. The appetizers were great, but the whale steak was so salty I couldn't eat it. I do typically like a lot of salt, but this was really intense. My husband's cod stew was also salty, but not as bad as my steak, but the cod was really hard. It felt and tasted like salt cod that hasn't been completely re-hydrated. Disappointing! We did tell the waitress, who empathized, but didn't do anything about it. Because we didn't finish the food, we also didn't finish the wine. We asked if we could put the cork back in and take it back to our hotel, but they said we couldn't do that, so we ended up leaving the best part of the bottle behind too. The bar seemed popular, so maybe we should have stuck to bar food, like the burgers. There are lots of great places to eat in town. We probably wouldn't go back to this one.

We didn’t quite know what to expect, but the bar menu, service and food were amazing. We split the spare ribs as an appetizer and had a whale steak and beef filet as mains. All were outstanding. Was the best restaurant we visited while in Longyearbyen.

Dinner and drinks here were fabulous. The staff are great, but more impressively this bar would be nice in NYC or London, let alone in the middle of the Arctic. Prices are very reasonable given the location. If you're in longyearbyen I can recommend you try this place

After reading reviews my friend and I came here for a burger and beer it didn't disappoint! One of the nicest beers I've had and the burger was cooked to perfection with plenty of chips on the side. Definitely recommend!
