Description

Nestled in Carshalton, The Hope is a community-oriented pub celebrated for its impressive selection of real ales and hearty food. Patrons often rave about the friendly atmosphere, inviting beer garden, and dedicated service. However, recent experiences reveal a few inconsistencies, with some customers noting rude interactions from staff and strict policies that can dampen the overall enjoyment. While many appreciate its traditional charm and local favoritism, a few have expressed concerns over the ambiance, especially with its predominantly male clientele. Overall, the pub holds potential for both casual drinkers and those seeking a hearty meal, though visitors may want to temper expectations.

Proper selection of beers on both cask and keg. Friendly staff and a monthly beer festival too. This place should be a site of pilgrimage for beer loving Londoners.

Great afternoon, as usual a few nice beers to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff. A decent chunky sandwich went down well then 5 pints later, headed off home.... See you again soon.

Had to drop in following Herne Bay FC's 3-1 win at Carshalton. Found an excellent range of draft beers, and also a good choice of craft beers. I recommend this as a great place for anyone passing, or going to the War Memorial Sports ground, the home of Carshalton FC.

Took my very well behaved baby along for a quick drink and very rudely got asked to leave after paying for lots of drinks. Tiny invisible sign saying no under 14s. Very upsetting for a tired parent!!!

This is quite simply the best pub you can find anywhere in London for aficionados of real ales beers. Staff are a delight
