Amazing and authentic Thai dishes and service. Went with a large group and had the $45 a head banquet. Lots of delicious food served efficiently and in good time by friendly staff. View all feedback.
What Rosalyn Schimmel doesn't like about Muum Maam:
Not enough variety on their menu. Didn’t have much of the regular Thai favourites that you would expect to see on the menu. Was disappointed to be told the chicken satay sticks were not available only to notice a large table who arrived an hour...after we did got multiple servings of them. Not sure if they were just playing favourites to their friends. Serving sizes were quite small but from what we did order it tast... View all feedback.
Best best best Thai in Sydney! Everything is absolutely delicious! Great spot for lunch and diner. Prawn Pad Thai is amazing, and Sticky rice pudding with coconut and ice cream is the best dessert I've ever tied!
Delicious food. Betel nut leaves with salmon (it's a while since I've been so memory fails me) are great, if a little pricy. Crying Tiger Wagyu beef is to die for. Banana flower salad with prawns, crispy pork belly with snake beans all very tasty. Staff are extremely attentive and very helpful. Wine selection is good. The price is a little high but the food is great.
Affordable Thai with a fair amount of dishes. Love the space and decor, and the incense burning evokes a beautiful ambience. I got the duck rice paper rolls and the chicken, cashew and chilli stir fry. Would definitely visit again.
Muum Maam is a groovy and energetic Thai restaurant in Surry Hills which appears to be finding its feet. I tried several dishes including their signature shredded banana salad prawns, crispy pork belly with snake beans and crispy crabs and prawn rice net spring rolls (pardon for the long names). The shredded banana salad prawns are awesome. The complex taste of the sour unripe banana and sweet fat prawns are bound to tantalise any tastebuds, even for predominantly carnivores like me. The complementary prawn crackers were also fascinating and tasty. However, the fried spring rolls and crispy pork belly were disappointing. Both were overfried and tasted rock hard. The snake beans, which I believed were poached, tasted raw. A better option would be to blanch the snake beans with hot oil until the exterior became crunchy. The pork belly was so hard that it lost all its original texture and it resembled the prawn crackers more. Muum Maam's dining concept is refreshing and different from other Thai institutions. However, they have to improve on their food.
Muum maam must doing something right if they are getting customers in this little hidden side street There customer service is right up there, easy to get there attention, filling up our water glasses but the waitress did take away our satay chicken stick plate before my missus finished using the dipping sauces,a little too efficient! The satay chicken sticks were different, but in a good way. The satay sauce wasn't chunky but smooth. The chicken itself only had a little flavour in it. I wouldn't get it again The green vegetable curry was nice, the missus felt it was good. I liked it too but I feel you can get the same at any good thai place The veal massamam curry was better than expected. Thumbs up for using veal instead of another meat,it suited the curry well. Complimentary prawn crackers The prices though do not match the portion sizes. The missus said it right,we felt that the rice could of been a bigger portion, rice isn't that expensive What attracted me to this place was it's different menu. I'm glad I came!
