Bar Ume - Surry Hills

Bar Ume is the place to go for the best burgers and fries in Sydney. The service is top-notch, and they have a fantastic selection of drinks, including house-made sodas like their amazing passionfruit ginger soda.

The food quality has significantly decreased. I believe they should revert back to their previous operation. The food was not up to par and was quite disappointing. Additionally, consistency in menu items should be maintained at both locations.

Warm, welcoming ambiance coupled with friendly and attentive service. The Fish Katsu and Ume burgers were satisfying and went well with renkon chips seaweed salt. Homemade passionfruit ginger and strawberry vanilla sodas were cold refreshing. Happy to recommend and we look forward to returning.

We were warmly welcomed as we entered the restaurant. We enjoyed the laid-back and attentive service. The burgers were delicious and we especially liked the Orion tap beer from Okinawa. This wasn't our first visit to Bar Ume and we will definitely be returning.

An absolute must visit. The food at Bar Ume is something really really special. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and chicken katsu burger (a special) and they were both spectacular. I'm not normally a huge chicken burger fan but my oh my was this amazing. The crunch on chicken was unlike anything I've ever tried and all the flavour combinations were spot on. The beef burger is one of the most well executed, well constructed burgers I've had with every aspect working amazingly together. We also ordered the renkon chips and fried chicken as sides - both are delicious and make perf additions to the burgers (especially that fried chicken - definitely don't skip on this!). For dessert we tried the tiramisu mochi balls which were a fun lil treat that rounded out the meal perfectly. ALSO if you have a sweet tooth definitely try the in-house made sodas!!
