Fong's Eatery - Surrey

We dropped in on some friends at the beach and called ahead to order the Dinner for Four for $60 (with tax $64). We arrived just in time to pick up our meal, which was prepared hot and ready to go. The pros: the food was ready in 20 minutes as promised, piping hot, and came in very generous portions (we couldn't finish it all - lots of rice and noodles left over, along with some Szechuan pork and lemon chicken). The Spring Rolls were delicious with fresh and plentiful fillings and the right amount of crunch in the wrap. The Lemon Chicken was also very tasty. The beef dish had plenty of veggies, which was a good addition because the meal needed more vegetables. I'm not a big fan of Sweet and Sour, but those who are enjoyed it. The rice and noodles were okay. Overall, it was a great value and our friends have said their vegetable dishes are very good. I would recommend adding a vegetable dish or ordering a la carte for a more balanced meal.

While visiting friends in White Rock, we decided to order a takeaway meal for 6. The food was delicious with a nice variety of dishes. It was ready on time when we arrived to pick it up.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time and got a small hot and sour soup, a spring roll, sweet and sour boneless pork, ginger beef, and a small steamed rice. The order was ready on time for pick up. However, I was not impressed with the hot and sour soup as it had a strange smell. The ginger beef lacked ginger flavor and the meat was tough. The sweet and sour pork had a very sweet sauce, more sweet than sour. Both dishes had too much onion. Overall, I was disappointed with the quality considering the price of $37.50.

Added a few more friends this time. Ginger beef, sweet and sour fish (never would have tried this myself), spicy crisp chicken wings all fabulous. Only negative they could do more and better vegetable dishes. Don't go here if you are looking for ambience the food is the attraction. Service is good, friendly but casual.

If you are looking for a cozy little place with no decor or ambiance but great Chinese food this is it ! Ginger beef is my favourite dish and this was the best I have ever had ! Food cooked to order, comes fast and hot !! Lots of people doing take out. Don't recommend the spring rolls tasted like they came out of a package but everything else was excellent.
