We flew into town for my friends wedding. The night before (Saturday night) his wedding we wanted to take him out so we came here as we heard this place has the best sushi... Our group we seated and they ordered. 45 min later the drinks have not comeyet and we were told that they ran out of rice so the sushi was not going to arrive. The place looked nice and the peoplearound us looked happy, but we had to leave as we did not receive our food. If we lived in town we would probably give itanother chance, but we don't.
The food is PHENOMENAL. The portions are TINY. You will leave delighted and hungry and poorer and still a bit happy, dreaming of tiny plates that you wish had just a couple more bites. Those salmon truffle dumplings? Oh Lord. They are heaven. And you willpay $20 for three tiny dumplings. My husband and I had exactly 15 bites of food each and were amazed by each bite and paid $100.
I have to be honest, the service at 26 Sushi Tapas is excellent—super friendly and knowledgeable. However, I wasn’t a fan of the food or the ambiance. The atmosphere is very bright and a bit noisy, so I chose to sit outside. The concept of kosher sushi is intriguing, but the dishes I tried didn’t impress me enough, especially considering the price. I spent $55 on two small appetizers and a glass of wine, plus tip, and felt there are better sushi options in Miami that are worth the cost. The salmon dumpling was good but nothing extraordinary, while the sake salmon nigiri was disappointing—the rice was hard, the salmon lacked flavor, and the cut was much larger than expected. I’ll have to return to give it another chance.
Sushi tapas sounded fantastic, so we chose to come for lunch. We enjoyed the Wednesday half-price wine special and appreciated the pleasant atmosphere, enhanced by modern art that quieted the busy Harding Avenue. We celebrated a birthday, and the service was friendly and attentive. The bathrooms are definitely worth mentioning—they were very clean, which really shows attention to detail. Thank you, we’ll be back!
