The Chef was very entertaining with his food preparation and cooked the meat to perfection. Great for groups or those who want to join in on another table for the entertainment. Menu choice was superb. View all feedback.
What Ignacio Rogahn doesn't like about Hanazono Teppanyaki:
The food was really well cooked and flavorsome, but the portion size of the protein prawns /beef felt small for the cost of approx $20 per plate. I was a bit disappointed that there was only 6 prawns in a serving. However they do provide rice and salad and miso soup. We went for lunch and there was only 1 other table having lunch so atmosphere wasn't really there. View all feedback.
Staying in Surfers I decided that I felt like some Japanese Teppanayaki. I have always liked the lightness of food cooked in this way ... and the fun of the process. There are many Japanese places in Surfers but I picked this one not far from where I was staying. It was relatively empty when I arrived about 6.30pm although there was a big table of 20+ near where I was seated.I chose the buffet with wagyu beef, chicken and prawns which were all cooked on the hotplate by a very engaging and skilled young man. Part of the fun is watching others as they interact with the chef ... particularly if they are young as were two at my table.Of course there were other components to the menu such as Miso soup.Thoroughly enjoyable ... and the restaurant was packed by the time I left around 8pm.
Fantastic food, amazing chef, best birthday ever. Felt very special to be sharing the night with my family
We thought we would give this a go as 5 of the group of 7 had never done it before. Best decision we made all week. The food was exquisite and the entertainment outstanding!
Four of us dined at Hanazono Teppanyaki last night and were disappointed. We normally always go to a teppanyaki in Broadbeach but thought would would try somewhere different. We were booked in at 5pm and turned up at 4.55pm and the door was locked and staff were waiting outside to get in. Once we finally got let in the staff were all trying to get organised around us which wasn't very professional. We decided to dine early as we had our 2 year old daughter and had seen the 30% discount off main meals if you order before 6pm. When I enquired about this we were told that it was only for 4 items off the menu which were on the Teppanyaki Banquets menu and the cost of the mains were around $55. This was not advertised anywhere so was disappointed. The entertainment factor was a real let down as we upgraded to fried rice so we could see the iconic 'egg trick' so we could all have a go at catching the egg in our mouths and this did not happen. There were a few small tricks but the chef was just not enthusiastic at all. Then at the end there was no writing in the salt we were just thanked and he left. The one bonus that didnt ruin our night was the fact that the food was very nice but the overall entertainment and false advertising of 30% off discount we would not return to this restaurant.
For nearly $40 for a dish, you'd think they'd bother to de-vein the prawns. Mentioned it to the chef and he just said that it always came like that, didn't offer to de-vein them, is unacceptable. Unfortunately they are content to let customers remain unhappy even after complaining. Won't return.
