Beaches-n-cream
Description
A charming beachside ice cream shop in Holden Beach has won locals’ hearts with homemade, preservative-free flavors—think birthday cake, banana pudding and rich coffee—served in cones or sharing cups. A playful scuba-diving cow mural and outdoor seating make it picture-perfect for families and vacationers. Clean, quick service and text alerts keep lines moving, though patrons should watch receipts for occasional pricing errors; seasonal flavors like pumpkin may not always be available. Freshness means a faster melt, but the flavor keeps customers returning year after year.

We felt really overcharged at Beaches-n-cream. After paying $39 before tip, it seemed way too high, so we checked the prices on their website afterward. Our order—two kids’ scoops, one single cup, and three waffle cones (two singles, one double)—should have totaled around $29, not $39. It seemed like the young staff might not have been fully informed on prices or were overwhelmed by the busy pace and became careless. For many people, including us, it’s frustrating to overpay for something we can’t easily afford. We’re fine with paying the correct prices, but based on our experience, be careful with charges. On the plus side, the place was clean, and although most staff appeared to be high schoolers, they were polite. It just seemed like they needed more guidance, especially at the cashier.
This ice cream is absolutely amazing! Be sure to stop by and give it a try. You can really taste the love that goes into making it. Without a doubt, it's the best ice cream around here!
I was disappointed that there was no pumpkin flavor available. I assumed that going around 3 PM would be early enough to find it, but it seems I was mistaken. The interior had charming seating, and the mural on the fence outside was perfect for taking photos. I typically lean towards frozen yogurt, but the ice cream here was delicious—just the right amount of sweetness while still being full of flavor. Just a heads up: it melts faster because there are no preservatives!
This is the best place for homemade ice cream in Holden Beach. We make sure to visit every time we're in the area; it's become a family tradition for us. I also adore the charming sea-cow decor. You can't overlook the playful scuba diving cow mural that adorns the outside of the building and the outdoor seating area.
