Description

Hot Lava Bakery in Sunriver is a village favorite for standout donuts, pastries, custom celebration cakes and strong coffee — the iced vanilla oat milk latte gets special mention. Bakers deliver beautiful, flavorful cakes and many pastries please, while savory sandwiches and homemade bread show promise. However, guests report inconsistent freshness (oily or day-old textures), occasional dry or processed sandwich components, uneven service and high prices for modest portions. A tasty stop for sweets and special-order cakes, but come expecting variability.

We stopped in for a quick mid morning treat and enjoyed what we ate! Service was friendly and quick. We shared a walnut brownie with dulce de leche and meringue, a giant big foot doughnut, and a crinkle cookie. None of us cared for the cookie but we allenjoyed the other sweets and our coffees. We will be back to try the savory options!

We ordered a custom birthday cake for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. We live about 5 hours away and had never been to/ordered from Hot Lava Bakery (HLB)before. Every aspect of ordering from HLB exceeded expectations. Emailing back and forth with the cake maker was so easy, and she made a cake that was even more beautiful than the picture I sent for inspiration. Best of all, the cake tasted great! Light delicate cake with delicious buttercream icing. We were so pleased, and we’d definitely order from HLB again. Also worth noting, when I went to pick up the cake, their other pastries looked amazing as well.

Delicious baked goods. I got the cream cheese cinnamon roll and it was super good. Friendly staff too.

The broken top club sandwich had processed cheddar cheese, while The alpine breakfast sandwich had real cheddar cheese. The egg on the breakfast sandwich seemed like pre made processed egg patties. Your prices are high enough to have real cheese on all your samies. The homemade bread is tasty.
