My experience at this Korean restaurant was a delightful feast for the senses. The lively atmosphere, along with the owner's fluency in English, added to the enjoyment of our meal. They were able to accommodate our vegan preferences with ease. The restaurant's unique emphasis on acorn jelly jam piqued our interest. We enjoyed a generous serving of salad, vegan Bibimbap, and a delicious acorn jelly pancake (non-vegan). The portions were abundant, almost overwhelming, but the flavors were so tasty that we couldn't resist finishing everything. In the end, we left feeling completely satisfied with our culinary journey.
However, as of 2023, they now include egg in dishes like deep-fried acorn jelly with sweet and sour sauce (도토리탕수), sweet-and-sour mushrooms (표고버섯탕수), and acorn pancake (토속전). Overall, I enjoyed the food at this restaurant as a fan of acorn-based dishes. The food was fresh and colorful, with a creative presentation. The restaurant is quite large, with two dining rooms, and is popular among locals, often busy even during the pandemic. It's recommended to expect a wait, as there may be a line at the restaurant even on weekdays. (Updated from previous review on Jan 30, 2022)
This restaurant is bustling and we had to put our name on a waitlist before being called for our table (which took about 30 minutes). When I requested dishes without egg and meat, they informed me that the bibimbap and acorn sujebi soups were the only options available. Luckily, Google translate was helpful and there were two staff members who spoke English and assisted us. They also had an English menu. The staff were incredibly kind, the atmosphere was lovely, and the acorn sujebi soup was absolutely delicious! (Review updated from previous date on October 15, 2022)
I had troubles finding vegan options in Suncheon but this restaurant itself makes up for the lack. The large variety of dishes that are originally vegan or can be veganize is great and everything was delicious. You can take away your leftovers (what most locals seemed to do considering the gargantuan portions). I also highly appreciated the freshness and variety of side dishes. However, remember that this restaurant is not all vegan so ask for any fish sauce/anchovies. Furthermore, the staff does not speak English and they don’t have an English menu so if you don’t speak Korean you will need a translator.
