We decided to give this fusionrestaurant a visit while in Sulmona since several locals recommended it (Tkx George, Marta Riccardo) We wanted to experience somet... read more We decided to give this fusionrestaurant a visit while in Sulmona since several locals recommended it (Tkx George, Marta Riccardo) We wanted to experience something different after spending a week eating traditional Italian food. Two cultures blended into one sounded interesting. The spice combinations were perfect. We enjoyed and ate everything they served. Even the organic wine was a great choice. The Owners, Monica Nico personally welcomed us and their wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended and don’t forget to visit the inside (downstairs) dining area, it’s very charming.

Nico is super friendly and he and his friends shared their knowledge of the region. They shared a bottle or two of wine too... lovely people! Some excellent organic wine and some great Italian beer. They have some top Belgium beer too if you like Geuze. The food isn't classic Abruzzo but is good. But it's the welcome and the company that will stay with us. I love food. I've worked with some of the world's top chefs. The meals I have had at BioNico are some of the best I have ever had. The chef, Monica, is a genius. A truly gifted chef. My wife and I were swooning over the flavors. And Nico is wonderful and gracious and an excellent sommelier. If you ever go to Sulmona, don't miss the opportunity to eat here.
