Lovely country pub with a varied lunch menu. Alex was seating, taking orders and serving drinks and food. The pub was at least half full on a Wednesday lunchtime so he had his hands full but you wouldn't have known it. What Katherine L doesn't like about The Shannon Pub:
This is the first time I have been to the Bucklesham Shannon for lunch as I had been told how good the food was. I had Sunday Roast and my daughter had cod and chips. The cod was massive! Really good quality fish. My Sunday Roast was OK I suppose but my beef was pink and not what I expected at all. It tasted OK though and to be fair the plate was huge. Now the crux of the matter. The price I paid for a pint of coca c... View all feedback.
The pub is charming with a wonderful ambiance and friendly staff. The food was superb - my husband enjoyed the delicious Fish and Chips with tasty mushy peas. I had the Surf and Turf, which was absolutely delightful. The portions were generous and we struggled to finish our meals, but we'd rather have too much than too little. We will definitely be returning. 5 stars.
Called in for a Sunday roast, one of the best we’ve had in the local area, also paired with a good Merlot, the food was amazing a really good portion size with succulent roast beef all the trimmings, it even came with stuffing which is not normally served with a roast in other local pubs, what a bonus….all for £17.95 per person. Although we knew we wanted a roast, the menu had lots of other choices, all of which I would be happy to order, nice comfortable dining at a decent price, well done The Shannon, we will most definitely be back!
My daughter and grandaughter took me for a belated Mothers Day lunch today March 26th , I must say it was fantastic the food , staff , and everything about the Shannon was great , I will definitely go back with my husband definitely recommend.
Lovely country pub with a varied lunch menu. Alex was seating, taking orders and serving drinks and food. The pub was at least half full on a Wednesday lunchtime so he had his hands full but you wouldn't have known it. He was attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the details of all the dishes when we asked questions. We had four different dishes and they were all well cooked, served nice and hot and ample portions. Excellent. It was a little cold in the restaurant but as it was only 2 degrees outside this is understandable. By the time we had eaten were had warmed up. We will definitely return and hope that Alex will be on duty again.
We were greeted by a waitress who appeared disinterested and unfriendly based on her interaction and body language. I had to turn my body to talk to her during our first encounter. When my husband asked for Aspel Drift Cider, she informed us that they did not have any on tap, but when he went to the bar, he discovered that they did indeed sell it. The waiter who took our food order was wearing shorts, which we found to be unprofessional. Our food took an hour to arrive, and while it may have been freshly prepared, the Thyme Chicken in cream sauce that my daughter and I ordered seemed to have an excess of dried thyme. The roast potatoes were undercooked and pale, lacking a crispy surface, and the plate was mostly covered with a packet of frozen peas. We were disappointed with the overall experience, and although we did not speak up at the time, we do not plan to return to this restaurant. It's a pity, as going out to eat is a special occasion for us, and we hope that other establishments in the hospitality industry can understand and appreciate that.
