What User doesn't like about Inthuthu Smokehouse:
Great ambience and decent service, steaks cooked perfectly. The smokiness was too much for some of our party, overpowering the dish, for others it was a nice balance. View all feedback.
I really enjoyed dining at Inthuthu, despite the fact that they don't fully embrace the low and slow style of American barbecue. The fusion between this style and their previous iteration as Hippo Creek worked well for me. The black angus and steak were delicious, and my dad enjoyed the pulled pork. Although I was impressed with the food, some of the other participants weren't as enthusiastic, but taste is subjective. We ate a lot and had plenty of drinks. I tried South African beer for the first time and thought it paired well with our meal. The service at Inthuthu was excellent from start to finish, and everyone, including the chef, was accommodating when we nerded out about barbecue techniques. My only complaint was that the ribs seemed like they hadn't been cooked in the Yoder smoker, which was disappointing. It's challenging to replicate the authentic American barbecue process on a restaurant scale without proper equipment. I would recommend Inthuthu to others. I had a fantastic evening and believe that those who go with an open mind and without high expectations will be impressed by the food. There are a few areas where Inthuthu could improve to elevate their dining experience from good to great.
Was rushed by waitress to order. Pokey table in corner next to other guest when not in a busy period. Steak was succulent but not for one that doesn't like burnt bits. Chips over salted. Overall husbands steak at was tender, cooked medium and...delicious. A ladies portion scotch fillet was the perfectly cooked but thin and crispy on the edges. Personally I won't be visiting again. Pleased I had a bill discount.
The food was truly wonderful. Went here for business lunch, ordered basic open sandwich options but very nice meals all around. Make sure you allow some time as service was slow, but worth it.
We went in on last Saturday night and witnessed something revolting, lady next to our table was served a crumbed chicken dish and as she started cutting into it, the waiter rushed back to the table and took the plate away saying it was the...wrong dish. He took the dish back to the kitchen and a minute later that exact same plate was served to girl sitting on the other side of us! I could see the cut on the chicken fillet the lady had made!!! What kind of restaurant does that! The time we tried to go in a week before I had booked a table online for Monday nigh, as we walk in some lady in there comes and sends us off saying they are not open on Mondays. Nice of them not to disable the online booking for days they are not open..Or even a call would have been nice. Also the page of the menu starts with some back story to the smokehouse: The complaints we got at hippo creek blaa blaa blaa Who would start the experience by drawing the attention to complaints, the same person from hippo still runs the restaurant! Very odd.. The food we got served was well below average, absolutely nothing to rave about, prices are ridiculous compared to quality getting served dish that's already been cut into by someone else! Below average service. I wouldn't recommend.
Very pleased to find another restaurant in Perth which is extremely wheelchair friendly. Shared an entree of smoked goats cheese and biltong which were great. Certainly recommend the Wagyu Rump; cooked perfectly and certainly full of flavour. Deserts certainly looked good, and according to...the wife, the salted caramel popcorn sundae was excellent! Coffee at the end was likewise good. Only negative point; despite not being busy it took a while for our drinks to be served, otherwise would have received an Excellent. Very friendly and accommodating waitress.
