This will be forever known as the place where we discovered maultaschen! What a delicious swabian dish. We ate outside off in a corner where we could observe and enjoy our very fine dinner. The service was pleasant and informative; we appreciated that they worked...with our very limited German thank you! My husband (who found this place) and I would both recommend whole-heartedly.
We had a reservation at pm and we ordered soon after, but the food arrived at pm, so we waited more that an hour, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. The stuff spoke English relatively good, on the other hand it wasn't...very pleasant. Said that, we ate outside and by the end of the dinner, when the food arrived, we couldn't even see what we were eating. The food was good and the location was too, the thing that left me disappointed is that we waited too long for the food to arrive.
I came here because of the unique vegetarian Spaetzle and it was great. You go up the narrow staircases and you are really in a little tower, so another special features.
Zero stars Worst service ever. I ordered wine, water and a roast pork dish. First she forgot the water and I had to remind her. No apology. Then they brought me the wrong dish. Veal schnitzel. Again no apology and she sighed and asked if I would just eat it. I said fine because I was starving. One bite and I knew it was veal and not pork. I had to wait fifteen minutes for her to appear again so I could explain I don't eat veal. She sighed and asked what I wanted. What I wanted was what I ordered in the first place! I got it and ate it and it was fine. She cleared my plate but ran away before I could ask for the check. She disappeared for twenty minutes and I had to ask her colleague for the check. She came ten minutes later and slammed it on my table and tried to run away again but I told her I could pay immediately and gave her money and waited for my change. My change came back short. They charged me for the schnitzel which was more expensive. At this point I'd been there two and a half hours so I went inside and said there was a problem with my check. She snapped that I should sit down and she would come in a minute. I told her I couldn't wait any longer. She sighed and I explained the bill was wrong. She said her boss said to charge me for the veal. I said but it was her mistake and my dish was cheaper, why should I pay more? Before I could finish she sighed and threw five euro coins at me. I took them and walked out. I can't believe this place is in the lonely planet guide. Never, ever go there!!
Excellent. Fun, beautiful, historical atmosphere in an old wall tower. Traditional Sabic specialties, well prepared, for a fair price. Make sure to taste a high-quality local wine. Service was good. Be prepared for narrow stairs. Not far from the center of Stuttgart in cozy former rural district. Consider the reservation.
