What Chris MacCoy dislikes about Subway:
As a vegetarian I was very bummed that they do not serve veggie patties. I wonder what else they don't serve. Also the staff weren't out you have to press a bell for them to come. I didn't notice the bell for 5 minutes waiting. Only to find out no veggie Patty. Every subway has them I've been to except for in Alaska. View all feedback.

There are just too many subway restaurants. They all feel identical.

Take yesterday for example. We chose a Subway located inside a convenience store and gas station, which is supposed to be open from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. However, when my husband arrived at 4:45 PM, he was furious to find it closed once again. He’s a regular at that store, so he asked the employees about the hours, only to be told that the two young staff members had left a good hour early. This was extremely frustrating, especially considering that this Subway is listed on highway signs for travelers coming off the Massachusetts Turnpike, most of whom are on their way to Boston, Cape Cod, and even New York or Connecticut. Why would a restaurant advertise itself on a highway sign if it closes earlier than its posted hours? It’s a waste of time for drivers to pull off the highway just to find a closed shop, especially when the area can be notoriously congested. Sure, there are other fast food options like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s that remain open, and places like Panera Bread have inconsistent hours, but Subway markets itself to travelers. Many people prefer healthier food options, and not everyone wants greasy burgers or fries. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Subway anyway, as their sandwiches often have a processed taste compared to other sandwich shops. I’m not impressed by their portion control, either; it feels like they measure everything out to the exact gram. Plus, the “sandwich artists” can be quite snappy when you’re deciding what to put on your sandwich, and if there's only one person at the counter and another person working in the back, it can take forever to even get to the register. If this Subway weren’t within walking distance from our home, we would probably stick to local pizza and sandwich shops, where the hours are more reliable. Lastly, it’s clear that the franchise owner is not adequately monitoring their staff or the operation of the store. If I were in their position, I would keep a close eye on things, make surprise visits, and ask the convenience store staff to alert me if employees leave early. Otherwise, what’s the point of staying open at all? Closing before dinner time is just baffling.

They closed 20 minutes early, and I ended up wasting my trip there.
