Wait was about an hour, which is fine, because there's a wine bar nearby. Got the Nozawa trust me, it was really good. Fish was fresh. They did run out of hirami though, which was sad. Dim lit, giving you more of the experience to let your taste buds do more of the work. We had like 4 bottles of sake. Bathroom could have been cleaner. But other than that, great experience. I would definitely come back again. View all feedback.

I 'll start out by saying that there are a lot of sushi restaurants in Studio City. I 've tried many of them. My conclusion is the best Sushi is in Toluca Lake Sushi Yuzu and Kabosu both on Riverside Drive. Sugarfish has a great reputation. The Studio City location is in a shopping complex formerly occupied by the old Sportsmen 's Lodge (Ventura and Coldwater Canyon). My friend complains that this shopping center is very bougie. I would have to agree and although I don 't think bougie has anything to do with race, I have to admit that I did not see any other Black people other than me and no Asians or Hispanics unless they were workers. Just an observation. I find that odd in 2024 Los Angeles. I thought the sushi at Sugarfish was just ok. I wouldn 't go out of my way to go there but there was an Erewhon in this mall that I may check out. You can get better sushi elsewhere but you may get discovered at this Sugarfish. I mean I have complaints about his style of sushi but it 's pointless to mention if you 've bought into Nozawa. Do your research first.
Normally I come solo but this was an experience I needed to have I ordered The usual, which normally just is me? my usual is NOT being ON A DATE, This time im a date told them I will pay everything I'm ordering .. Until the date comes Date comes I paid for mine which was $65 Told them SPECIFICALLY now that my date arrived whew let's make sure it's cleared up I see I have another bill after the date ? ended up paying for what I had ordered AFTER the date arrived, making it awkward EVEN AFTER SPECIFYING, which why should anyone specify they are on a date but like I said it wasn't my usual to meet someone. They still added it to my tab as if I wasn't on a date? The girl that was a Manager said that it's because of the way I ordered from the beginning and that's not right I always come here, she had an attitude from the beginning when I sat down without my date. Wanting to order food it's not our usual to serve ppl waiting for another party. I'm obviously ordering enough for 2 people a time just me but was right away slamming my plates down as I ordered? The vibe wasn't the usual SHE EVEN IS LIKE I KNOW YOU!?! And laughed as I walked out. She as a manager maybe be more professional her attire was boobs in a tank top just an attitude at me from the beginning I used to come here sadly now I have to spend my hundred dollar nights elsewhere.
First time trying Sugarfish after 5 years staying in LA! I love the Studio City location because it's within a plaza that's not too busy unlike the one in Hollywood. Parking is free for limited time and there's plenty of space. We dined here around lunch time in a Saturday and it wasn't packed. We were seated right away. The ambiance is a little upscale but relaxed. Servers were straightforward and helpful. Food. I had their Don't think. Just eat course. This includes edamame, sashimi course, 7 orders of nigiri and two hand rolls. They served the food in batches, I thought at first I will be hungry afterwards or the portions might not be enough for me, but I was wrong, the pacing probably contributed to my fullness but don't get me wrong, I didn't wait that much between dishes. I definitely liked the sashimi, its fresh and delightful. The sushi rice is warm and loosely wrapped and melts in the mouth. One thing I would change would be my finale dish which was the eel, because I felt like it ruined the overall taste for me. I would rather have this first than finish with my sashimi's. It's just me.

However, my recent visit left me disappointed as the rice, typically cooked to perfection, was not up to its usual standard, affecting the overall experience. Despite the fresh and well-presented sushi, the meticulous attention to detail seems to be waning, especially in my favorite order.
Great restaurant to have an intimate date! Cute setting and amazing food! Our favorite was the albacore sushi! I also enjoyed the tuna hand roll! Definitely recommend coming here!
