Feedback
River Rock received mixed reviews from diners. Some were disappointed with the service, food quality, and overall experience, while others enjoyed the ambiance and food. Complaints included slow service, underwhelming dishes, and lack of communication. However, positive points were highlighted as well, such as accommodating large groups, delicious guacamole, and a good selection of food. Overall, opinions on the restaurant varied, with some reviewers expressing a desire to return while others were less impressed.
I booked a table a month in advance, only to show up Valentine’s Day weekend to find a closed sign taped to the door. I received no email, no phone call, no sort of notification what so ever. Drove all the way out there and wasted my gas and time for nothing. That’s why they got the rating they did.
Maybe it was an off night, because our visit to River Rock was completely underwhelming. First off, the service was very spotty, with multiple people servicing our table, but no apparent communication. I ordered the ribeye medium-rare. What I got looked more like a flattened strip, a disappointing half-inch thick, and cooked just above medium. No marbling, and tougher than shoe leather. The chimichurri or whatever they put on there wasn't bad. The asparagus was undercooked and cold. My special ladyfriend had the sliders, which were undercooked, yet extremely dry and brittle. They came out 10 minutes after my entree. At the end of our meal, as we asked for the check, they delivered the rolls to our table. We just shook our heads. Very mediocre.
The restaurant was much better when they hosted Latin nights with the old crowd from La Cueva and played country music. The food is just average, and I’ve noticed that the woman bartender often seems moody.
