Impromptu visit for pie night, a good decision. Staff friendly and attentive as always. Food was great, I had a special of Prawn Twizzle which was new and really tasty. Two of the group had pie which went down a treat. One had the pork belly OMG it looked good! I has a wagyu burger on the specials .... so nice. Room for pudding and a summer berry at on mess and another had a banoffee waffle. Washed down with a good s... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ship Inn:
We visited The Ship Inn with family for a birthday Sunday lunch. The location and setting was lovely. A few ordered starters which looked and apparently tasted great. However we waited a long time to then have our mains, which I believe was due to a busy service that day. The roasts were divine, although disappointing that the mains were price at £16.95 each despite online pricing stating £14.50 which we felt was a l... View all feedback.
What a hidden gem this place is. Location is beautiful, views looking over the water and plenty of countryside on the other side. We picked it as I was looking for somewhere that would keep my little girl happy whilst us grown ups could also relax! They have a new modern play area which kept her entertained and is a really good size, we would come back for that alone I think! However, the staff and the food are really the stars of the show. The staff were so welcoming and kind and helpful from the moment we arrived which set the scene for the whole visit. The food menu is full of lots of scrummy sounding options too. We opted for calamari, white bait, home made faggots, a ploughman’s and a kids chicken nuggets. Every dish was delicious. The kids nuggets were more like home made chicken goujons and the chips were extremely morish! The ploughman’s stole the show for me but my partner couldn’t get enough of his home made faggots either! Highly recommend this place and I am so pleased we chanced it to come here. Please keep doing what you’re doing.
Food was amazing, it’s a shame the head chef Jane has now left. Hope the quality of food doesn’t slip.
Great food and service. Nothing too much trouble. Hunters Chicken a pasta dish. Nice Tribute beer and SV wine. Generally will visit again when we are in the area.
Since our initial visit, we have consistently felt welcomed and have never had a negative experience with the food, drinks, or service. The staff are all friendly and efficient, going above and beyond to ensure a special visit. The dishes are always freshly prepared and delicious. The Sunday lunches are particularly outstanding!
The food was decent. The steak was cooked well. However, there was a long wait for our meal. The pub itself has a unique atmosphere but could use some tender loving care to make it special. The cushions on the chairs were noticeably stained, and overall, the place could be cleaner.
