Stopped here on our journey down to Cornwall to have lunch with a friend. We chose a table outside the pub as it was a nice day, which also allowed our dog to get some shade (when not trying to steal food). Ordered from a menu that had a decent selection and from the specials board. The food was excellent, and there was a lot of it. All three of us enjoyed the salad and its dressing. Food was presented extremely well... View all feedback.
What gregrysgiirl doesn't like about The George Inn:
What has happened to this place.? Been going there for years. Food is awful. Gammon was disgusting. Calamari was worse than poor. As for the Chefs Curry best thing for that was the bin. Used to love this place now it’s just overpriced ****. As the prices just a rip off ! View all feedback.
We pre-booked a large group of 20 people (adults and children) through the website and communication was quick and clear. The menus were available and we ordered as requested. The pub also managed to accommodate some last-minute changes to our meals. Upon arrival, the bar staff were very friendly and showed us to our tables. The food was brought out shortly after and was delicious, with good portion sizes and excellent quality. We chose to purchase drinks directly at the bar as a large group, and the service was quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend this place and happily visit again when I am in the area.
I dined at this restaurant twice within a week while on vacation in the area, both times on Sundays to enjoy the carvery. One person in our group did not want the carvery on either occasion. During the first visit, there was a lunch menu available in addition to the carvery, but during the second visit, there was no lunch menu, so it was either the carvery or nothing. Eventually, they were allowed to order something from the kids' menu. The food was hot, fresh, and served quickly both times due to it being a carvery. One person mentioned that the beef was a bit tough, but was impressed with the turkey during the second visit. The outdoor play area was great for the kids, and the staff were all polite and friendly. I would definitely return if I am in the area again.
I stopped at the campsite behind the pub and decided to have dinner here on a Saturday night. It is recommended to make a booking in advance. I had a delicious mixed grill and the staff were lovely. They provided great service, especially during these tough times for the hospitality industry due to Brexit and COVID. I will definitely be returning.
My husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. I ordered bruschetta for a starter. It was £6. What I was served with was beyond a disappointment, it certainly wasn 't bruscetta, I couldn 't even say it was tinned tomatoes on toast the only lumps in were what think was green pepper) rather a scraping of tinned tomato juice served on a bog standard white sliced loaf, toasted. I felt Italians everywhere dying inside) I asked to speak to a manager, the waitress said she asked but the manager was too busy to see me. I did get a refund of the cost of the 'starter ' but no one spoke to me or asked what the issue was, except the waitress who just shrugged and said she didn 't know what bruschetta was one would expect people in the restaurant should know what dishes are especially with food allergies etc.
