My wife and I visited at lunchtime with the intention of having a couple of drinks and light lunch. We had a few drinks on the terrace and looked at the menu however it was just not appropriate for lunchtime dining. There were no sandwiches or lighter bites and to be honest I don’t know many people who would like to have an expensive lamb shank or a £150 (no typing error) turbot midday and mid week. (I appreciate the fish must have been a sharing item but.....)We reluctantly phoned st Petroc’s and had a faultless and I mean faultless 2 course lunch for £17.All I can say is please tone it down a bit in the daytime and add realistic items on to your menu.We have been before and we will return but whether we done or not is up to you.

Decided to go out with the family for an evening meal. We ordered drinks and were a little concerned about the loud group of customers swearing and not very nice. Other customers chose to eat in the small area of the pub and expressed their thoughts about the foul language too. While we waited for our meal to arrive a black cat was running across the tables, the bar and chairs For a pub that does not let dogs in, we found this disgusting, at least dogs don't walk over tables! When our meal arrived it was as always very good, I did speak to the bar person as our evening was ruined with the profanities being shouted, the comment was I am too small to speak to them.

I met some old school friends in Berkeley and suggested the Mariners' for our lunch as another friend had recommended it. We were not disappointed. Very good service, choice of food and value for money. I would have liked to know more about its history but our server couldn't help on that.
