The bartender who cashed me out was very polite and professional. Ordered chicken paprikás and potato pancakes very hearty and flavorful, absolutely would order again. This spot is a true gem in the Northside! View all feedback.
What AandD doesn't like about Huszar:
Dining room was very cold, AC blasting in 65 degree weather outside. Food is sour cream laden, largely flavorless. Goulash had minuscule amount of meat, mostly potatoes, other dishes also light on protein, especially for the price. View all feedback.
My wife and I shared the fall off the bone ribs with red cabbage and smashed potatoes. It was topped with a tomato based sauce and was delicious. They also have interesting wines and yummy desserts.
The food is fantastic and is a great value. The atmosphere although a bit outdated is still comfortable and fun. Service was not super personal but it was certainly helpful and added to the experience. The rib special they had was amazing
Man, did I love this place. I had been wanting to try it for a while, so my friends and I went for my birthday. When I walked in, I immediately thought pride in ownership . It 's not at all fancy but exceptionally clean. I had a drink at the bar w a very friendly bartender who later served our table. The menu is incredible and I can 't wait to try everything. The Langos is a must; it 's a delicious, somehow light, fried bread. I had Magyar Schnitzel w mushroom paprika (sorry if I 'm spelling these incorrectly) that was dynamite, and my friend 's loved their meals as well (stuffed chicken and chicken paprikas) We got to talking with Judy, the owner, who is a riot and had us cracking up. Do make a reservation. You can eat at the bar, too. Know that they have atypical hours in that they 're not open after 8.
If you want authentic ethnic cuisine, that's the place to go.....food true to European region and atmosphere of people speaking the language of the food's originIt's really a trip to, as my grandma calls it, Old Country!
The chicken paprikash is not quite as good as my wife's but extremely good. The langos was not like a small street food one, but thinner and bigger but quite delicious. Our daughter lived in Budapest for 6 months and also approves of everything. Highly recommended.
