Verde - Stratton Mountain
Verde
Description
Perched in Stratton Mountain village, Carve offers an upscale mountain-town dining experience with standout moments—impressive steaks, burrata, and attentive, knowledgeable servers. Wine and cocktails are highlights, and the chef can craft vegan dishes on request. Yet experiences vary: some diners praise service and portions, while others report overcooked or stale items, excessive spice, long waits and holiday reservation confusion. Expect a lively, ski-resort atmosphere and good wine, but be prepared for inconsistent food and pricing.

This is a more upscale dining experience at Stratton Mountain. The welcoming atmosphere is fantastic, although the lighting could be improved. The food is excellent, but I noticed the wine list is smaller than I recall from previous visits. The staff is upbeat, knowledgeable, and professional—Sarah was particularly great. I had the duck appetizer and the pork chop, which came with some of the smallest Brussels sprouts I've ever seen. I was hoping to find venison or boar on the menu!
We spent 3 nights in Stratton, had two dinners at this restaurant and they were both great meals. Quality of the food was great, super nice people working there too, and that 's what mattered! Yes, maybe it took a bit longer than a NY restaurant to get your food, and it is run with a real 'family feeling ' with the people working there (vs a 'professional restaurant ' , but while trying to unwind on a mountain, I wouldn 't have it any other way! (The specials were great on both nights btw Kid-friendliness: Super welcoming to our 2 daughters (aged 6 and 2
Great service, food was good although a bit pricey. Still a good option in Stratton. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Service was good as wait staff is very tentative and friendly. Food was way below expectations. Both the croutons in the salad and bread served with the shrimp were stale. The pesto sauce served with the cornbread made no sense (even the table next to us requested butter). The shrimp seemed high quality, but were so spicy they were difficult to taste. Lamb chops were decent, but only one of them was cooked to proper temperature (the rest were overcooked). The table diagonal from us returned her steak because it was raw in the center and had a thick layer of grey to the outside. Looks like it wasn’t brought to room temperature before cooking (rookie move for a steakhouse). Understand prices are jacked up being on Stratton mountain, but food should have at least been mediocre. Will not be coming back here.
