Delicious seafood at the Tipsy Trout! Super yummy crab cake sliders to start! I also loved their scallops and lobster roll! I really enjoyed their refreshing cocktails, too! I was disappointed in their lack of seating accommodation. The restaurant was practically empty, and we requested a small booth for two. They said they were unavailable and then sat us at a loose screw table that became obnoxious really fast. The... View all feedback.
What Matt MacDonald doesn't like about Tipsy Trout:
I can't rate the food because we left about 10 minutes after sitting. The atmosphere is terrible; too bright cafeteria like. There was 1 person at the bar, but it took at least 5 minutes before the bartender acknowledged us. And the prices are outrageous. $35 apps. $17 5oz glass of wine when the bottle sells for $10 retail. Plus $15/hr parking. We were prepared to spend a bit morning knowing it was a resort based res... I ordered okimonoyaki, and this dish is salty enough to kill a cow.
Had a reservation for 7:15 pm but they were able to take us early at around 6 which we appreciated! We were seated and our waiter Alex was amazing. He helped us with drinks and food all night. Honestly the stars are really for his service. This place is a mash up of seafood, some Japanese inspired dishes as well as full entrees like steak, fish, lobster rolls etc. We got the plateau in a medium and it was the perfect size, the oysters were fresh tasting and the chowder was amazing! Ambiance was good, relaxed and chill. A bit confusing as people were going to buffets at the alpine hall and sitting at the tipsy trout? Made us wonder about the buffet! Overall The drinks were fun, and Alex was definitely informative. We would go back from his service forsure. Which is why we gave this place 4 stars. Noticed the manager went around to multiple tables to ask about their night etc and never came to ours. Don't wanna take that personally but usually they go to all tables. Thanks Alex for taking care of us! The rest of the staff was great as well.
The food is exceptional. We had the shrimp and grits and New England clam chowder for lunch and both were probably the best I ever had. For Dinner we had the Lobster pot pie and Lobster roll. The lobster pot pie was topped with an Old bay cheese biscuit and all I can say it is a must have! I highly recommend this place. Service was okay.
Worst place, reservation don’t even work. Come in with reservation don’t even have
We were here a few weeks ago for our engagement dinner while staying at the spruce resort. We had a great experience when we were one of the three tables there for dinner on a Saturday night. We went back after a day of skiing for a 5:30 reservation on Dec 24th for two. The hostess sat us at the bar top that seated 4. I quickly asked the hostess if we could be seated at the booth instead of the uncomfortable high table. She quickly rejected us saying that it was already booked. The table we were at (against the wall) rocked excessively, after getting annoyed I asked if we could swap the table that didn't rock with the one we were sitting at. We did it with our server's assistance when we both saw rotting french fries and chicken tenders making the table rock. Instead of cleaning it we just ignored it. My guess is that it's still there. The food was over priced, but I get it, it's resort food. No complaints on the food. We got the beet salad, oysters, quail, buns and scallops. What bothered me the most was that by the time we left 7:15, the booth we asked to be seated at was full.I really wanted to make this our easy stowe couples restaurant with things like tipsy tea. Instead, we will keep looking. They validate your parking for 2 hours.
