This restaurant was fantastic! They might serve the best burgers in the state. The Strandburger featured a delicious cut of pork accompanied by perfectly chosen vegetables. The bacon burger and the blue cheeseburger were both amazing. The chicken was wonderfully crispy. Check out all my reviews on YouTube at Review Time With Tim! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Bench:
We visited this restaurant after finding it on Happy Cow, but we were quite disappointed. The veggie burger isn’t actually vegan or even a proper burger. All the salads are packed with cheese, and the staff seemed unclear about what “vegan” really means. The only item they could make vegan was the roasted vegetables, but only if we requested them without butter. The atmosphere of the place was lovely, but it's a sham... View all feedback.
The wood fired pizzas were pretty good. The mushroom/drumb oil was the best. The tomato/basil/mozzarella was a bit bland. The waitress was kind. Beautiful small terrace. Overall, it was a pretty good dinner/experience. Not the best wood-fired pizza I had, but still good!
On the way home from Burlington, VT. Before deciding to go here, I looked at the reviews and there were 4.7 stars from 1,100 reviews... And I think the rating was too low. The atmosphere is rustic, the staff is great, and the food came fast and piping hot. I have to start the salt giants. Entreés were moss glen pizza and the buffalo Mac cheese. Both are worth writing home. If you don't love Buffalo, try another food, you can't go wrong. Keep this place in mind for the next time we are in the area and want a great experience.
Excellent gastropub. I had the Bench Burger and besides its impossible size it was amazing. Perfectly cooked. It's hard to deal with a burger if you can't even crush it down to fit it in your mouth. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant struggle. The poutine was enormous and also delicious. My friend had the fish and chips that were excellent. Beer selection, in line with Vermont operations, was very good.
Very popular place amongst the locals. The mussels… one of the best I have ever had in the states. The wood fired cooking techniques let the natural ingredient shine. You can taste the freshness of the food. The restaurant also uses local ingredients to make the food. It has the organic flavor that restaurants in the big city cannot offer.
Solid location for a very decent meal. Don’t expect to be blown away, but expect to get what you came for. Food was tasty and came out very fast. Granted all that was ordered was fried or comfort food, which is difficult to screw up. Fried chicken sandwich had a slightly odd sweet and sour type sauce on it. Food came out mostly right. I would definitely not write home about this place, but if you’re hungry and need consistency go here.
