Granvilles is situated in the heart of the canal town of Stone, with ample parking nearby. We visited on a Saturday evening to catch a band performance. The band was fantastic. Despite our booking, we were initially seated by an open door leading to a smoking area, which was cold, drafty, and unpleasant. Upon request, we were moved to another table. I ordered haddock and chips, while my wife opted for sea bass with spinach. The haddock was disappointing, with a small, frozen fish portion, soggy batter, and overcooked insides. The chips, however, were delicious. The sea bass came in a small portion accompanied by a large serving of potatoes and minimal spinach, all drowning in a bland sauce that was meant to be veloute. To make matters worse, we were charged a service fee that was not mentioned verbally or on the menu, making the advertised prices misleading. I rate Granvilles 2 stars, mainly for the enjoyable band performance, though it was a bit chaotic. Overall, not the best dining experience.
My family and I frequently dine at Granvilles, so it was a natural choice for lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The staff, especially Charlotte, provided exceptional service, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding, with a wide variety of options on the menu. We are always satisfied with our experience at this restaurant. Thank you to the entire team.
