We have had regular visits to this pub for drinks but tonight we had a bite to eat ..I had a rump steak and asked for just a side salad ..the steak was cooked to perfection and the side salad was absolutely lush ! My husband had the seafood linguini which I would never in a million days eat as always thought rubber food! But wow I tried every bit of fish on his dish and it was lovely !! Again cooked to perfection! Ha... View all feedback.
What Eloise F doesn't like about Charlie Bassett's Pub:
Usually come here as it's a lovely place but recently the pizza place outside has been playing very loud annoying music when trying to have a nice quiet evening. Usually I wouldn't complain if it were busy as it would be atmospheric. But it was me and my boyfriend and another couple outside having to listen to the staff screaming singing and dancing to the music. When we first got there it was lovely mellow music but... We were on this side with friends over the easter bank holiday. it was a beautiful website and the new owner was very welcoming to check on us a few times during our stay. we had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend. good points: the accommodation is in a beautiful location with many dog walks. Service pitch with electric hook and waterWash station beautiful clean and well maintained toilets excellent pub with great eating a small playground for children and utilizing areas of improvement of the electric tripped while trying to use a water cooker, but the owner was aware and plans to improve as well as plans for a shower block. we will definitely book again!
Sat with a party of x5 family members, the place had just an internal and extraordinary referendum, which is on place. this is a free house so makes all difference .lovely friendly staff . large selection of ale etc. on menu. we had a main and a desertall was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend.
The pub on the campsite was charming and we loved the style. The food was homemade and delicious, and the cocktails were also very good (we highly recommend Charlie's bramble!). We particularly enjoyed the cheese board and the pizzas. There is also a play area on the site and a large park just a 3-minute walk away. Our kids had a great time meeting the friendly goats that lived nearby. The surroundings are quiet, mostly farms, with shops just a few miles away. Overall, we had a fantastic time at this campsite and will definitely be returning in the future.
I had a very disappointing Sunday lunch at this restaurant. It was not like my previous visits at all. There was no table service, a much smaller menu, and the quality of the food was extremely poor. The side vegetables were a cold, mushy mixture of broccoli and cauliflower in a bland white sauce. The meats were tender but not as abundant as before. The Yorkshire pudding was inedible, which was a shame as it is usually a highlight of a good roast dinner. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
This pub and campsite is absolutely fantastic. The food, staff, and value for money are all top-notch. I couldn't find a single fault. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning.
