Great food. Well prepared with excellent presentation. First course (Appetizers) a bit overpriced. Limited choices (4) on main courses. Service was prompt but server was not confident or engaging. Spacious dining area on front porch. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Hichborn:
wonderful creative contributions and beautiful presentation and restaurant decoration. but it wasn't about the noise. it made it difficult to enjoy an otherwise delicious dinner. View all feedback.
Where do I even start? This lovely house has been transformed into a remarkable dining experience. The moment you step inside, a sense of tranquility envelops you. The waitress is genuinely thrilled to walk you through the chef’s menu, as if she’s sharing her most treasured gift. Each course arrives one after another, each more impressive and delicious than the last. The presentation is simple yet imaginative, brimming with love and creativity. Who would have thought to garnish lime sorbet with minced celery and salt as a palate cleanser? It was absolutely delightful! Then, the chef—shy, kind, and hardworking—makes his rounds to greet each table. It all clicks; the harmony between the atmosphere, the food, and the personal touch from the chef makes the experience complete. Having enjoyed some of the finest meals around the world, both my husband and I are thrilled to include Hichborn on our list. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
The restaurant offers an expensive fixed menu, along with a bar that serves small plate options. The service is exceptional, and the four-course meals are unique and delicious.
I don't agree with their methods of operation,or acquiring permits to operate said business. This is my opinion and believed that the State step in and revoke the liquor license that was issued, and that the Town manager be releaved of his job after renewal of said permit, and after being brought to his attention of a state law liquor served within 500' of a Church. Stockton Springs Town Code enforcement Officer should answer the question of how this state code could have possible been overlooked.
The service is warm and personal, creating a friendly environment. The atmosphere strikes a balance between rustic and inviting. The ingredients used in the food are top-notch and everything tastes very fresh. However, the dishes tend to be overly sweet and lack flavor, making them rather dull and unexciting. While this might appeal to many guests from Maine who may not have tried a wider range of cuisines, those with more worldly dining experiences might want to reconsider spending their money here. It's quite pricey for the lack of adventurous flavors or genuine enjoyment. Overall, it's so forgettable considering the cost that it's almost absurd.
The service is very personal and friendly. The atmosphere is primitive yet cozy. The food has excellent ingredients and everything is very fresh, however, the food is sweet and bland and overall quite boring. It fits many Maine palettes of quests who simply do not know any better. If you've eaten all over the world, you might want to save your money. Very expensive for the lack of risk or any real enjoyment. So unmemorable for the price as to be ridiculous. Parking: Paring is an issue.
