Reviews - Libby's Bread Wine
Reviews summary
Libby's, once a beloved café for locals, has recently experienced a decline in service and food quality. Patrons have noted inconsistent staff attentiveness, menu changes that have not met expectations, and rising prices that don't reflect the value. While some visitors still find joy in the atmosphere and certain menu items, others express disappointment over specific dishes and uncleanliness. Nonetheless, the restaurant has also garnered positive feedback, highlighting delicious tapas and a pleasant brunch experience. As Libby’s navigates its transition under new ownership, there is hope that it will reclaim its former charm and reliability.

that was my first time at Libby’s, after hearing many good things about it and I was not disappointed. we sat outside, covered with heating, so we didn't feel the cold at all. cocktails were amazing and so was eating! we have a few different tapas plates between us to share and there was not a plate between us that we didn't like! Eat was full of taste and I can't wait to come back what I plan next month. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Libby's Bread Wine:
The atmosphere at the restaurant is pleasant and the staff is friendly, however, the service is extremely slow. Additionally, there were errors in my order each time, which further delayed receiving my food. When I visited on July 12th, I ordered a ham and cheese toastie but received a croissant instead. I came in for lunch on saturday, we sat on the table upstairs overlooking the outside terrace. Our waitress Mia was lovely and communicated well with us about the wait in the kitchen. Our coffees were lovely, the latte art was amazing!! When the food arrived, it was delicious. Will definitely be visiting Libby’s again!!
Best place in town for brunch, staff are always so friendly and the coffee really is the best!
Our first time out in years on valentines and so glad we did, atmosphere was wonderful even down too the best loves songs playing in the background! Food phenomenal, the waiting staff very polite full of energy , and loved the special touch of cocktails ! The manager Katie very attentive 10/10
Came for dinner with my family in marple bridge on friday, and stopped by for some food and drinks. Our server Ciaran was very charming, and the mussels came out very nicely.
We visited recently and were told there would be a 30minute wait for a table. Our name was taken, so we were happy to wait. When we returned after 30 minutes, we were told that another group had been seated ahead of us instead. This was really frustrating, as we’d followed the process and expected our place in the queue to be honoured. Appreciate that busy periods can be challenging, but a clear and fair system for managing waiting lists is essential. Unfortunately, this experience left a poor impression.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the service was not good. The staff seemed overwhelmed and it took a long time for them to take our order. Our drinks arrived after the food and were incorrect. As someone with celiac disease, I asked for a gluten-free option for a dish that originally contained gluten. Initially, they said it couldn't be done, then later said it could. However, when my meal arrived, there was a greasy spot where the sausage had been removed. It was not handled well in terms of cross-contamination. Despite wiping it off with a napkin, I didn't bother asking for a replacement given the chaotic service so far. The atmosphere was nice and the decor beautiful, but overall, it was not worth the price. I would recommend coming during quieter times for potentially better service.
Libbys used to be our go to cafe after a run with friends but no more. Over the last few months the service, food and overall value has been steadily getting worse. The staff used to be so good, so attentive but not any longer. One or two of the staff are still good, but the others regularly get orders wrong, miss out the basics and you have to repeatedly ask for things. No one seems to be in charge. The menu has changed for the worse and prices have gone up. They also seem to be cutting corners with the meals and also forget things like not toasting bread ??. So, they've lost our business and I know other locals are equally disappointed. A real real shame and I just hope the new owners take notice and get things back to what they were.
Disappointed with the granola that was described as homemade and listed as having walnuts, hazelnuts, coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and Greek yogurt and berries. There were no identifiable nuts or seeds (in their natural form) and instead it was very similar to eg bio-me granola and mostly grains/puffed grains. Trying to keep carbs/sugar low as pre-diabetic so disappointing. We are only occasional visitors and the Coffee and menu didn’t seem as good as last year. I told the staff so hopefully either the granola will be more like it was last year or more accurately described on the menu.
It had been a while since I'd last been to Libby's because of the slow service, but thought I'd try it again. I sat at a table which hadn't been cleaned, noticed the floor was covered by bits of food and the walls were very shabby with holes in the plaster. Sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for one of the six or seven staff at the bar to serve me. Tried to get online but the wi-fi was password protected and no sign of a password. Eventually got up and walked out. What a shame it's gone downhill so quickly, as I thought after it was taken over things would pick up.
Upon arriving, our party of two was promptly seated at our table, which was unfortunately too small for all the delicious dishes we ordered. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. We tried 5 dishes and all of them were fantastic! The chicken wings were especially delicious. We left happy and satisfied. I have been to this restaurant many times before, but it was my friend's first visit. She was impressed and will definitely be coming back.

It is a good job that I steer my wife into this kind of places. after a pretty heavy night on Friday I thought it would be a good idea to go.
Very clean and comfortable. they offer generous meals and cheap trips. we loved eating a lot and the staff was very attentive and informative. I recommend this place.
I and my partner went for the first time. the food was nice. fresh pizzas from the open kitchen. shin from bark meat rissoto is highly recommended. service was also amazing. it was busy, so I would book if I went on a Saturday night.
More beautiful place to go to the afternoon, with a great selection of fantastic cakes, not too late, although these cakes fly out of the regals. free parking at the river are limited to 1 hour
What a cute tapas/not tapas place. It's got lots of small dishes to share and amazing pizzas to be had. Lots of space and out door seating out back. We went when it was rather busy but the staff managed even tho they had lots of orders coming in! However I was really won over with the food, which was just too notch, it tasted just sooo good. The table next to us ordered the lamb which looked devine, will need to go back for that!
