Libby's Bread Wine - Stockport
Libby's Bread Wine
Description
Libby's, once a beloved café for locals, has recently experienced a decline in service and food quality. Patrons have noted inconsistent staff attentiveness, menu changes that have not met expectations, and rising prices that don't reflect the value. While some visitors still find joy in the atmosphere and certain menu items, others express disappointment over specific dishes and uncleanliness. Nonetheless, the restaurant has also garnered positive feedback, highlighting delicious tapas and a pleasant brunch experience. As Libby’s navigates its transition under new ownership, there is hope that it will reclaim its former charm and reliability.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the service was not good. The staff seemed overwhelmed and it took a long time for them to take our order. Our drinks arrived after the food and were incorrect. As someone with celiac disease, I asked for a gluten-free option for a dish that originally contained gluten. Initially, they said it couldn't be done, then later said it could. However, when my meal arrived, there was a greasy spot where the sausage had been removed. It was not handled well in terms of cross-contamination. Despite wiping it off with a napkin, I didn't bother asking for a replacement given the chaotic service so far. The atmosphere was nice and the decor beautiful, but overall, it was not worth the price. I would recommend coming during quieter times for potentially better service.
Libbys used to be our go to cafe after a run with friends but no more. Over the last few months the service, food and overall value has been steadily getting worse. The staff used to be so good, so attentive but not any longer. One or two of the staff are still good, but the others regularly get orders wrong, miss out the basics and you have to repeatedly ask for things. No one seems to be in charge. The menu has changed for the worse and prices have gone up. They also seem to be cutting corners with the meals and also forget things like not toasting bread ??. So, they've lost our business and I know other locals are equally disappointed. A real real shame and I just hope the new owners take notice and get things back to what they were.
Disappointed with the granola that was described as homemade and listed as having walnuts, hazelnuts, coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and Greek yogurt and berries. There were no identifiable nuts or seeds (in their natural form) and instead it was very similar to eg bio-me granola and mostly grains/puffed grains. Trying to keep carbs/sugar low as pre-diabetic so disappointing. We are only occasional visitors and the Coffee and menu didn’t seem as good as last year. I told the staff so hopefully either the granola will be more like it was last year or more accurately described on the menu.
I came in for lunch on saturday, we sat on the table upstairs overlooking the outside terrace. Our waitress Mia was lovely and communicated well with us about the wait in the kitchen. Our coffees were lovely, the latte art was amazing!! When the food arrived, it was delicious. Will definitely be visiting Libby’s again!!
