Description

Steubenville’s family‑run Naples is a nearly century‑old Italian gem serving generous, homemade portions in a cozy, hometown dining room. Standouts include rich meat sauce, house salad dressing, fresh soft bread, inventive “heel” sandwiches and memorable desserts like toasted almond cream cake. Service is attentive, portions and drink sizes are large, and the menu spans pasta, veal and seafood at good value. Minor quibbles: limited wine selection and no pizza, but the welcoming atmosphere and classic flavors keep locals and travelers coming back.

Absolutely an amazing place you must try! I highly recommend coming here if your in the mood for Italian food, over any other place. Plus you will be supporting a LOCALY OWNED FAMILY business, which has been going since 1923(98 years old! !! What business today is still family owned, let alone for four generations, specially a restaurant!? Food: I had the veal parmigiana with a side of spaghetti with mushroom tomato sauce on it. Yes you can get spaghetti with sauce as your side, just ask. If you like veal I highly recommend coming here, they have five different veal dishes. My veal was a huge piece, and actually a good thickness. Most of the time they’re small and really thin. The veal had this sherry wine tomato sauce on it, that was so amazing. I love to buy just that sherry wine tomato sauce. Also I dont know if they baked the bread fresh in house, or if they brought it fresh. But it was clearly fresh and yummy! Pros: Everything! Its really nice inside and you can sit anywhere you want. I have to say the best part of this place besides the food is the server. Not sure the name of the place who waited on us, but she was an older lady. Best server I have had! She was super attentive and nice! She kept bringing us out drinks before we even needed one, she even bagged up my leftovers without me asking. Cons: For once I have nothing to say. The only thing I can even think of is their mushroom tomato sauce is a little bit too watery for me, but that’s entirely a personal preference. I would also like a tomato sauce with a little bit more cheese and garlic, but again entirely personal preference.

This is a fantastic place for Italian food! I've been dining here for years, and the cuisine is always exceptional. Their house dressing is one of the best I've ever tasted. The meatball sub is absolutely amazing. I recommend dining in or calling ahead to order for pickup.

Good Eats!. Steubenville is an interesting community, I am only starting to understand it after living here for 5 years. Naples is a part of the local culture. Absolutely everyone in town knows what you are talking about when you reference it. The food they serve is generic Italian. They have pasta, seafood, wine... The inside is cozy and definitely has a hometown vibe to it. The food is very food for the location and price. The dishes will not blow your socks off, but neither will the bill at the end of the meal. If you eat here and are not from Steubenville, or the Greater Ohio Valley especially than this is going to be a great taste of the local food and culture.

Nice surprise. While I passed thru Steubenville, I turned to my old friend Urbanspoon to help me find something worth eating. It didn't make me mad. I wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant itself was quite not describing, but the food was great. My wife ordered a salad with the house dress and thought the dressing was good enough to buy a quarter to take home. For her gut, she ordered the chicken parmesean. I had a "half and half" and pick two of those pastas. I had the Gnocchi and Angelhair with meat sauce and a meat ball. The pasta was fair, it didn't taste like they had salted the pasta water and it was a little soft, but that's my hangup. The meat sauce was excellent! I could just eat a bowl of it! Wifey's chicken was also excellent. Beautiful crisp chicken, even covered with sauce. A quarter of meat sauce went home with us. We also tried a 'Poorboy heel'. (We always order too much food when we try a new place. The menu offers a wide selection of "Heels". What's going on? Your spin on a sandwich: half a laib Italian bread, with the core hollowed out and filled with various things. Ours had meat sauce, a meatball and provolone cheese. EXCELLENT. The meatballs are great, beautiful taste without many fillers. A surprise, no pizza. I can't remember the last time I went to and Italian joint that 't have some spin on pizza. You will not miss it, this place is definitely worth a try!

I can’t say enough good things about Naples. It has been the go-to place for every family celebration of mine for literally decades. The homemade dishes are amazing, and while the wine selection might not be the highlight, you definitely don’t want to miss the pasta, the sauce, the bread, and the caring staff who prepare and serve everything with love. This family-run business is truly a gem in the city!
