I visited this restaurant when I missed my flight to my country because of winter weather conditions and government shutdown over Chicago O'Hare airport. I have to stay at the airport another day, so decided to pay more money and eat American food before departure. Breakfast is available! Orange juice is very nice. This is the most affordable restaurant at Dulles Airport. We were seated right away. My husband ordered a draft beer, and I had a soda. We both opted for the BBQ Bacon Burger with fries. While it was decent, we were quite hungry and needed something to eat before our flight. The burger came in a to-go Styrofoam container, which is convenient if you want to take leftovers on the plane, but it felt a bit too casual for a full-service setting. The fries were the thick steak fries, which aren’t my favorite. Would I come back? Definitely! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. They understand that travelers need to catch flights, so they were attentive. The food quality was just okay, but it satisfied our hunger before our long journey home.
The main dish featured a lot of fried items: crispy potatoes and a large roasted chicken. I poured plenty of maple syrup over the fried chicken and waffles, creating a complex mix of sweet, salty, and greasy flavors that was surprisingly delicious! The waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant in the morning, as there may be fewer customers than during lunch or dinner times.
We received excellent service at the American Tap Room. It's a nice spot to grab a meal while waiting for a flight. The food was decent; we ordered the crab soup, salad, and chicken sandwich.
