George isn't at home. I've been following Mr. Jardine's culinary journey around the Cape for over a decade now. I miss the passion and attention to detail that once characterized his dishes. The hake dish I had was disjointed and instead of being harmonious, it felt confusing. I heard he has a project in Cape Town, but after this meal, I'm concerned about the future of this restaurant here in Stellenbosch. Some of the other dishes were better, but overall, it didn't quite meet my expectations.
We initially intended to only enjoy a drink and some appetizers, but the food and service were so outstanding that we decided to cancel our reservation at another restaurant and stay for dinner. The oysters, liver pâté, sirloin steak, hake, and wine were all superb. Chris’s service was impeccable and a major factor in our decision to stay. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5.
"The food here is excellent, and they have a nice selection of wines. The staff is both friendly and professional. For our dining experience, we chose to eat in during dinner, and the price per person ranged from R 350 to R 400. I highly recommend the Bread Course!"
