While the Sunday Carvery impresses with its variety of well-cooked meats and delicious vegetables, some found certain dishes lacking, particularly the gravy and potatoes. The atmosphere, however, can feel overly formal, with attentive yet perhaps excessive staff presence. Desserts receive high praise, although there’s room for more dietary options. Overall, the combination of friendly service and decent food makes it a spot worth revisiting, despite some criticisms about inconsistency in meal temperature and ambiance.
Lovely lunch. We had the falafel burger and the pastrami sandwich. The waiter/bar tender was really friendly and told us about the history of the inn and the highwayman Claude Duvel. Great atmosphere and the interior was really tasteful. Would definitely recommend. We will be back to experience the carvery.
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with a nice selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. The only downside was some maintenance work being carried out that involved a loud drill which meant conversation was a bit stilted.
Pleasantly surprised, what a shame that they only do a Sunday carvery once a month. Would have been nice to see a side plate set at the table.
The car very we had was absolutely delicious, could not fault it in any way, nice touch was a glass of cold water on the table, the desserts were beautiful
Went for carvery excellent service throughout, food was lovely, will be returning at a later date.
