Magdala on the Lake - STAWELL

I was on a work trip and after hitting a kangaroo on route just wanted to get to the motel for the night. So I was going to eat at the restaurant regardless. But it was such a delightful surprise to have a wonderful meal- salmon with crispy skin, put lentils and a mustard sauce. The salmon was cooked to perfection, the sauce so tasty and the accompanying green vegetables delicious. Other meals are more typically 'pub' menu but looked good. Recently new owners including the chef are giving this place a breath of life. It would be great to see some more adventurous food get on the menu whilst keeping some locals favourites. Good affordable wine list. I would come back here again for sure.

Once again the Mandala has not let us down !! The service and the food are impeccable ..be sure to get a window seat to admire the beautiful lake or enjoy a nice wine out on the deck overlooking the lake ... can't wait to come back ...

Specials and mains reasonably priced. Quiet room. Excellent service and outlook to the lake. Run as separate business to motel so separate bill, which was ok.

As I couldn't decide between all the many great sounding plates on offer and as I can't fit entree, main and desert I went for two entree and a desert. Perfect. The calamari rings were cooked just right and the stuffed mushrooms were delicious and beautifully presented. See picture. As for the desert, a simple classic desert but well presented and very well executed. Now about the view... Yes it is very picturesque but it was hard to appreciate as the windows looked like they hadn't been clean for many moons. There might be an opportunity for an exchange :-)

Enjoyed a lovely meal recently with family. Great friendly service and well presented meals. Price comparable to pub meals but better. Good atmosphere overlooking lake. Highly recommendable. Will go again.
