If they have lived in stavanger, they will probably remember the bar jago on the sheer. a few years ago they changed their profile and vinkontoret and the focus... read more If they have lived in stavanger, they will probably remember the bar jago on the sheer. a few years ago they changed their profile and vinkontoret and the focus is now on wein. they share a wine cellar with the restaurant matkontoret (former restaurant scaling) which I think is a great idea. we stopped early on Saturday night and the little one was full. it has a bit of an old school audience looking at the inner, but I think it is a more cozy place, as they even have a kamin and a casual mood. later we visited weinbars like norvald vinbar and lapin in pedersgata, but it was nice to return to vinkontoret. their weelist has become really impressive and with the help of coravin they can offer a lot of weeping on glass! in fact, they can offer about 40 white wines and close to 50 red wines through the glass! and the wine list (about 50 pages long) is divided into grape sections with accompanying information, which are somewhat different than the usual divisions per country and region. I can recommend a stop from vinkontoret to try a glass wein – or bring some friends to share a good bottle! that is really a treasure shop for those who are like wein!
