Mike's Oakwood Diner - Staten Island

Two elderly women regularly visit this diner, where we usually order breakfast. On this particular occasion, our meals arrived, but there were no forks or toast. No problem, as this can happen. I politely requested a fork, but the waitress, who was extremely rude, snapped back, "I don’t know why you don’t have a fork?" Still no toast. While I was waiting for the fork and toast, my friend accidentally spilled her water. Unfortunately, there was no assistance from the three inattentive servers to help clean it up. I showed my waitress that my eggs and bacon were sitting in the spilled water, while the rest of my food was fine. The waitress at the register then approached and said, "I don’t know what you expect me to do about this; it’s already in the system. You’ll have to pay for this plate and also for new eggs and bacon." I found this absurd and couldn’t believe it; I asked if that meant any customer who spills anything has to pay double. It seemed ludicrous, especially for a diner. In the end, we politely walked out without eating anything, as I never received the fork. I will never return to that diner, despite being regulars.

I absolutely love Oakwood! They serve the best sandwiches and food in the area. The waitstaff is always fun and friendly, and the place often gets crowded, which is a good sign that the food is fantastic. Their delivery service is impressive as well; they’re usually pretty quick. I highly recommend their food to everyone. Bring your friends, your dog, and anyone else you can think of for a wonderful breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enjoy!

I visited Oakwood Diner for dinner and had a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I ordered the Oakwood burger, and it was fantastic, cooked to medium rare perfection! The chocolate cheesecake was also delightful! I will definitely return, and as a new resident, I’m thrilled to have this gem in the neighborhood.
