A rowdy sports bar/pizza joint with good food, good service, and the best drink deal in town. There are a dozen or more big screens blasting football, basketball, baseball, motocross, and everything else a sports junkies want. The crowd is enthusiastic and friendly. What Matt K doesn't like about Straw Hat Pizza:
This used to be the hotel coffee shop and is now trying to be more of a hip sports bar. We had a chicken pesto sandwich here with tater tots and it was hot and tasty and filling. The atmosphere consists of a bar, with bar stool seating, tables, and booths, and rows of flat screen TVs broadcasting sports events. Friendly fast service. View all feedback.
We had lunch here on a Monday. We were looking for a buffet but they are closed on weekdays so we ended up here. You go up front at the counter, order your food and drinks. The drinks are self served while you get a number for your food order. We ordered an all meat pizza, I forgot what it was called and combination pizza. The meat pizza had way too much sausage compared to other toppings. The combination pizza had a disproportionate amount of olives. They were good but nothing great. We also ordered chicken wings. The wings are tiny pieces but they were good, better than the actual pizza's. The service was okay, they checked on us a couple of times.
Pizza was so plain and didn't have much flavor to it. Chicken weren't marinated, just chopped up in pieces and sprinkled on top of the pizza. For the price, totally not worth over $20.xx for a medium. On another hand, The salad bar for $6.99 was fairly decent. Good selection and veggies were fresh
So yesterday we went to see a concert at Harvey 's Lake Tahoe. Before the concert we wanted to grab something quick to eat and stopped into the Straw Hat Sports Bar. It was my first time in Harvey 's so I didn 't know what to expect. The set up is kind of different, you order your food at a stand in front, they give you a number and you grab a table. We ordered some Fried Green Beans, A Cheesesteak with Swiss and Mushrooms added and My wife got a Cheeseburger (I forgot to tell them no tomatoes). Even though it was packed the staff were quick to buss tables, clean up areas and bring out food with smiles on their faces. I was impressed by the speed. Even though we didn 't specify that we wanted the Fried Green Beans first they still brought them out as an appetizer . They were hot very crispy without being over cooked. They were seasoned well and with the accompanying ranch they were really good. Big portion too. Our food came out at a good pace (again with a packed house) and gotta say I was surprised by the portion. Generous amount of meat and veggies in my sandwich. Good flavors in my Cheesesteak and the roll did a really good job of staying intact and not falling apart like some places. My wife really liked her burger, again for the price it was pretty big. If I 'm ever in Harvey 's for a concert I will definitely stop in for a quick bite before a concert and I recommend this place if you are looking for the same.

Belly up to the bar and you'll meet from all over the states. They come to Tahoe for the skiing with breaks for the sports and drinking. Try the beer and shot special for $5.00. As far as I know, it's the best drink deal in town. The bar staff fuels the party with great service and an well stocked bar. As the beer flows and the bar tab grows, order some pizza because it's cooked right on the nose.
We got here 54 minutes before they were closing and ordered coffee. We heard the kind man at the ordering counter tell another employee that Number 48 is ordering coffee (presumably so they can begin to brew it). The other employee replied, really?. Needless to say, the coffee came out cold. When informed, they put it in the microwave. Not cool. It made us regret giving a tip at the register before we got our food. The employee at the register was very sweet and let our unsatisfied friend craving caffeine exchange her coffee for Pepsi. The wings were amazing and the cookie pizza was good, too. Wish they had ice cream on top, but they don 't have ice cream.
