Nestled in a strip mall in Lower Kingsbury is a hidden gem of an Italian restaurant called Ivano's. This elegant and intimate eatery perfectly captures the essence of Italy. The menu features authentic Neapolitan dishes, each accompanied by a delightful dressing, as well as roasted rolls and salad. What User doesn't like about Ivano's Italian:
The experience was okay, but the service was incredibly slow. We had made a reservation for a party of nine on a Wednesday night in August a few days in advance, so they were aware of our arrival. The restaurant was quite empty at the time. Unfortunately, it took between 90 to 120 minutes for our food to be served after we placed our orders. To make matters worse, they attempted to sell us another bottle of wine whil... View all feedback.
I regret to share that Ivano sadly passed away in December from a heart attack.
The restaurant is currently closed. I was informed that the owner passed away a few months ago, and it was not open when we arrived.
Ivano's is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in South Lake Tahoe and one of the best I've ever experienced. I was eagerly anticipating my return after some time away, and I am deeply saddened by the news of Ivano's passing. Rest in peace, Ivano. I will truly miss your restaurant, your delicious cooking, and your wonderful companionship. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We had a wonderful dining experience with delicious food and excellent service. The atmosphere was very family-friendly. We ordered the lasagna and the fettuccine al pescatore. While the sauce for the fettuccine al pescatore was a bit watery, the clams, mussels, calamari, and leeks were absolutely delicious and truly the standout ingredients of the dish. The lasagna was superb, featuring rich sauce and cheese. For our appetizer, we enjoyed the garlic bread, which was fantastic, and they generously offered us an extra piece on the house—such a nice touch! Our server was great as well. I highly recommend making a reservation; we did, but still ended up waiting about 10 minutes. It’s definitely best to reserve in advance to ensure you have a table ready.
Amazing food ! We were originally turned away by the waitress because we didn't have reservations. We didn't know we needed then then the chef caught up with us and invited us back in. He was very accommodating and down-to-Earth and such a charming older man. He was very kind towards us and my granddaughter and that meant so much to us. The waitress was very rude, even after we were seated but the chef more than made up for her lack of grace and hospitality. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The food was by far the best Italian food we've ever had.
