There must be something very wrong with the overall rating for this place here. We just tried it and we are regular indian food goers not just in Munich but in many other cities countries. Before i reveal the rest about the mains, let me just say that I drink coffee all types everyday and i know coffee. I ordered a black coffee and when i received it i think they had the audacity to service me Maxwell instant powder coffee. Do you still want to know what the cooking is like..? The Naan is hard, dry, lifeless, flat thin. Rice feels plasticky. The mango veg dish Portion was meagre and I don't even want to talk about the rest of the main dish. If you are not here because of the location they enjoy for a night out for drinks, then save your stomach for a proper meal elsewhere. I mean the owner seems nice friendly but please never forget this is a restaurant not a canteen. We paid restaurant price for what we normally eat in a hurry at an Asian canteen.

This is one of my favorites in Starnberg. The Indian food is outstanding and the service is primo. They know how to make a spicy curry, so don't underestimate their four chili rating system. A three or two chili curry is perfect for me. I really like spicy food. I ordered the four chili curry once, and it was too hot to handle...how embarrassing. The mango lassi drink is wonderful and one of my favorite curries is the spinach and homemade cheese curry. I was surprised how great it was. The restaurant is only a short walk from the Starnberg train station (connecting you to Munich) and from the beautiful Starnberger Lake. They also have a great priced lunch menu Monday Friday.

A really nice place for a meal in Starnberg. The food is really good however the value for money is simply not there and hence the three star rating. Food alone would be four stars for me. I had the haus thali which comprised of three curries and rice. Each of the dishes tasted excellent and the portion was good as well. I had the Gulab Jamun for dessert and it was ok but it felt like it was from a tin. The service was a bit slow and due to a public holiday the place was packed and it took a while to get food. Each of the dishes was quite expensive (I thought so anyway) and dinner for two with water was €65 which felt a bit rich for a curry house. I would happily return here any day if I happen to be in Starnberg.

This is absolutely the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to! So first, you get a seat in the bollywood decorated room. With tons of colorful fabrics lining the ceiling and fun art work, you can't go wrong. If it's full, don't sweat it. The other part of the restaurant is really posh. So after you sit down, the really nice and friendly waiter comes. The waiter speaks English and German, so you feel totally comfortable. If you ask him to recommend his favorites, you will eat the best food money can buy. After he leaves and comes back with your mango lassi, you notice that everyone working there is from India. Yep, this is the real deal. Then your curries get to you. They smell so delicious. Because you're there with good company, you each share your curries while the waiter scoops delicious rice onto your plates. 2 curries can go a long way. And oh my gosh, it tastes perfect. Mmmmm. Why isn't all food this good?! Dip your garlic or cheese naan in your curry while you're at it. And to top things off there are over 40 curries (fish, duck, beef, chicken, and vegetarian . Oh, and when they say 4 chillies hot, they mean it. It's not tailored to the Germans. It's so hot, you will cry as you dump yogurt on your food if you get the 4 chillies. Stick to the 2 chillies rating if you like it hot, and maybe venture off into the 3! Well, this place is amazing. You will have a fabulous night out if you go to Sur Bollywood! (Or a great lunch. The lunch menu is also very nice.
