Been going to this Stanmore shop for 20 plus years, the new owners are always friendly and the food is great, love the fact that you can get decent chips here and they still peel the potatoes as the shop has always done, will continue to go here and recommend this place to my friends. What User doesn't like about Stanmore Fish & Chips:
Standard fish n chips, could be a lot better though. It can be hit n miss at times. Last visit fish was smashed with salt to the point of being able to eat a quarter and getting frsutrated. View all feedback.

We love this local spot for fish and chips. The fish is perfectly cooked and not greasy, and the chips are the best. Highly recommend trying it out!
They dropped chips on the floor right in front of me and then put them in my pocket. The guy thought I didn't see it.
Cruising down the back of Stanmore and passing an old ,but neglected favorite since my last review with the new owners , so decided to dropped in and see if it had improved all these years on . To my surprise the front of the...building had been renovated and the same with a partial interior spruce to suit some ones idea of what a fish and chip shop looks like modern reminds me of a cake shop in some respects done in this case by the previous owners whom lasted I was told 8 months after the original owner had been there 30+ years and on to new owner number 3 . A nice couple and extremely customer service friendly with a passion for bring the standards back up to what they were with the original long term owner and I must say have done a great job in comparison .The meal had taste and batter had crunch again , the owners says the reviews have been mixed from customers and as this was a lunch time it is hard to gauge the peak hour service . The only difference I notice is this visit, the fresh hand cut chips had gone to a frite level of size and when queried on this I was told , the original cutting head of the chipper broke due to age and they searched world wide to find another but had to go with a small cut , to some long term customers I can see a whinge factor but to the non local no . Overall I left with a smile , a good feed of as the say Old School fish and chips and just right.
HAND CUT CHIPS!!! Been have been coming back for years, on the day when the old Greek guy and his wife owned it. I still come here occasionally after the new owners have taken over and still love them. Doctor doesn't say... to eat more roasted food, but I can't help him Great Hamburger, amazing fish burgers and their old school hand cut chips are the best in Sydney. The couple that owns it is always very polite and has done a good job to keep it old school!
