What User doesn't like about The Capital Grille:
Unfortunately, the Capital Grille in Stamford does not meet the standards of their NYC counterparts. The appetizer was served cold, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and overly salty, and the steak could have been improved. The spinach was also dry. Additionally, the restaurant no longer exudes an air of fine dining, as patrons are seen wearing sweatshirts, ripped jeans, sleeveless tank tops, and flip flops – there seem... View all feedback.
I had a great time at this restaurant. I visited with my family on Christmas Eve. I tried the Stoli Doli and Passion Fruit Mojito cocktails, both of which I enjoyed. The lobster crab cake appetizer was exceptional. However, I felt that the Sea Bass entree could have used more seasoning or flavor as it was a bit bland. I also tried my sister's coconut cream pie dessert, which was fantastic. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
This restaurant has been a longstanding favorite of ours. While we usually enjoy their Grand Plateau seafood tower as an appetizer, this time we chose different starters to accommodate a friend who doesn't eat seafood. We tried the Nueske's Cherrywood Smoked Bacon with Korean BBQ, which was delicious, as well as their lump crab. Instead of our usual wedge lettuce salad with blue cheese and bacon, we opted for the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad with Crushed Pistachios and Citrus Vinaigrette, which we found enjoyable. For our main course, we ordered the filet and the Dry Aged NY/KC Strip Au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream. Our side dishes included creamed spinach and Soy Glazed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon. Our friend had the Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms, and Fig Essence, which she enjoyed. The Mac and cheese side dish received high praise from another friend, although his steak was slightly undercooked for his taste, the staff quickly rectified the issue. The service at this restaurant has always been excellent during our visits. We decided to skip dessert this time, as we had a comedy show to attend nearby. However, their Classic Creme Brûlée and Warm Double Chocolate Cake with Port Wine Infused Cherries and Ice Cream are our usual go-to choices. Unfortunately, photos do not do the food justice as we were eager to dig in and enjoy our meal.
