Contribute FeedbackBarrel House has emerged as a vibrant new dining destination in Stamford, garnering praise for its delicious appetizers like meatballs and potato croquettes, complemented by excellent sauces. Diners rave about the generous portions of the calzone pizza, reportedly enough to satisfy even larger groups. The service stands out as attentive and efficient, enhancing the overall experience. However, some guests have voiced concerns about inconsistent service and long wait times at other establishments, with high bills not quite matching their expectations for quality. While noise can detract from the ambiance, many agree that the food quality and atmosphere make it worth the visit.
Service was extremely poor. Took 15-20 min for drink orders to be taken. Sent back my first drink because it was wrong. When I got it back it was still wrong. Food took a very look time to come out. Cobb salad was very plain and soaked in dressing. Would not return.
Took 45 minutes to get our drinks which came after our food was served We received shots at the end of the meal on the house, but having the drinks we ordered comped would have been a nicer gesture. Too loud on a Friday night. Pizza was delicious but little seasoning/ taste on the appetizers. Only received two small pieces of octopus that cost 14 dollars! Too may great restaurants in Stamford to return. Overall wasn't bad, just wasn't good.
Sorry, I wanted to like this place as a closer alternative to our usual pizza spot, but we probably won 't be returning unless it 's someone else 's choice. It wasn 't bad just not all that good. I don 't usually complain about price never have a problem paying when it 's worth it, but the bill came to $144+ before tip for three regular (meaning small for one person) pizzas (two plain with no extra toppings), one salad, one app and a few drinks (two of which were Shirley Temples, one beer a very BIG beer but still..., a cocktail and a glass of wine). The app (fried shrimp) was very good. Salad too much vinegar but otherwise fresh. The two pizzas were the same with the exception of no basil on one. The one without the basil looked leftover and dried out, so we shared the more inviting one with basil and took the other one home but it wasn 't worth reheating...again. The noise level was more than energetic but that was because they had some unnecessary, unpleasant club sound interjected that made even the young crowd wonder what was going on. Service was very friendly but totally understaffed, and it 's kind of hard to imagine that the bus guy didn 't know what oregano is in a pizza place (the oregano that was supposed to come on the pizza). On the bright side, the crust and sauce on the pizza that was done properly were both good. We enjoyed our meal just not all the other stuff.
We wanted to try Barrel House since it was new in the neighborhood and we were not disappointed. We ordered for apps the meatballs and the potato croquettes which I highly recommend the sauces used were delicious. For dinner we had the calzone pizza which says serves 2-3 people but is more than enough food for 4 if not 5 people if you order apps as well. The service was good they were on top of everything. I think we might have found our new favorite place!!
We had a reservation at 7:45 on a Friday night, but it turns out it wasn't necessary as the restaurant was mostly empty. This was a red flag for us. Despite the lack of customers, the service was very slow. It seemed like there might not have been enough kitchen staff or perhaps they were new. It took almost two hours to get our meal, leaving us with no time for dessert as we had to catch a movie. The food, which consisted of pizza and comfort dishes, was quite good, and they had a nice selection of craft beers. However, I value attentive service, so I am unsure if I will return in the future.
