While many patrons praise the attentive service, delicious meals, and inviting atmosphere, some recent experiences have highlighted inconsistencies in food quality and menu offerings. Diners have noted the decline in favorites like fish and chips and the occasional oversight in orders. However, standout dishes, particularly the chocolate cake with mint Cauldron Custard, continue to delight. Overall, the establishment remains a popular choice for brunch and special occasions, appealing to families and food enthusiasts alike.
We went to this restaurant on October 31st after seeing it while driving past the day before on our way to Alton Towers. Our daughter has celiac disease and we had trouble finding a place to eat, but when we checked out their menu, we saw they had many gluten-free options so we decided to give it a try for brunch. We were very pleased with our experience! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the surroundings were beautiful. We wish we had more time to come back. It might be a good idea to make a reservation in advance as we were lucky to get a table.
We reserved a table at Country Kitchen for an 85th birthday celebration. The food was fantastic, offering a wide variety of choices at a great value. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. However, the highlight of the dessert menu was the chocolate cake with mint Cauldron Custard, which we found absolutely delicious. It was one of the best desserts we've had in a while. A huge thank you to everyone at Country Kitchen for providing us with a wonderful birthday lunch.
This morning, my family of four visited the restaurant. Unfortunately, there were no vegetarian sausages available for the veggie breakfast, and there were no veggie alternatives offered. Our hot drinks were brought to us at least 10-15 minutes before our food, causing them to be cold by the time the food arrived. One order of American pancakes was forgotten, resulting in a delay for that person. The pancakes themselves were very dense and not authentic American style. Additionally, toast was ordered but no jam was offered or included, despite it being advertised in the price. The cinnamon pastry we ordered was hard and dry. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience and would not return to this restaurant.
Me and my husband came to cottage kitchen for a toasted sandwich and they even had a vegan afternoon tea! It was lovely and the staff were really nice too. What a lovely place to eat and drink at especially after a long autumn walk.
Would like to say a huge thank you to the chefs who consistently create the most delicious full English breakfast in the Peak District! Coffee and the rest of the menu is great too. The serving staff are lovely, very attentive and uphold very high standards of tidiness, even when the café is packed. Ambience and comfort fab too. Cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. Thank you all.
