I picked up some fish from this restaurant last night and they were delicious! The cod was fresh and the crispy batter was fantastic. It tasted great. This was my first time trying this place since it changed ownership, and I will definitely be returning in the future. View all feedback.
What Lash30 doesn't like about Blythe Bridge Traditional Fish Chip Shop:
Chips tasted like they had been reheated several times, sausage wasn’t cooked!!! Man very rude, and lady serving needed to wash her hands!!!! Short changed us too! Will defo not be going back View all feedback.
Great value, traditional fish and chips cooked by man who has been in the fish and chip business for years and it shows best I have had for years
Absolutely great fish and chip place!! George is brilliant and the quality is so much better than the previous management.
The worst fish and chips, I have had in 67 years, soggy greasy warmed through chips, fish in a soggy greasy batter, fish was dark in colour and did not look or taste fresh, after 2 mouthfuls, we threw them in the bin, disgusting, don't bother.
New owners in March 2015 and they certainly have a task on to turn around what was once a great chip shop which was changed dramatically by the last manager. Everything in there now is cooked very traditionally, the chips are lovely and yellow brown, none of these transparent things you get in a lot of chip shops these days!! With it only being a small place most of your extras are cooked to order but these don't take long and the staff are pleasant and friendly. If they're not too busy they will even bring out your order to your car whilst you wait. Give them a go!
I used to frequent this chip shop regularly when George was in charge, and it was a great little local spot. However, it closed down for a while and I had lost hope of finding a good local chip shop again. To my surprise, I walked by last night and saw that it was open, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered sausage, chips, and curry, but was only offered 2 small sausages, which I accepted. The price was £5.50, which should have been a warning sign for me to leave. Reluctantly, I paid as I wanted to support a small business like this. When I got home and opened up my food, I discovered that there were no sausages at all! I had paid £5.50 for mediocre chips and curry. I was the only customer in the shop, so there was no excuse for the mix-up. Honestly, I don't think people like this should be running a business, and it probably won't last long. My advice is to avoid this place and go to Tean or Meir chip shop instead if you're in the area.
